Seems like a lot of singles pron in the Mail thread, so just curious about the focus of everyone's collection now days.

A long time ago, I started out with sets first (first set was Palmas Club), then quickly started collecting singles, too. Over time, my focus has moved from Set collecting to Singles, but have plenty of both. If you answer Sets and Singles, curious to see how many singles people have (probably should do another poll :) )

Sets, but I accumulate singles and have 700+
Still, the sets are all I really care about. One exception to this is manufacturer sample chips.

For some reason, my brain is wired to say "You need to own one of every kind of set"; THC casino, THC mixed casino, RHC casino, RHC mixed casino, Ovesized RHC, BRPro Ceramic, Abiatti Ceramic, CPC Customs, Cash, Tourney, Heads Up, Solids, Hot Stamps ...

There's no room left for singles or samples. And don't get me started on the f-ing dealer buttons...

In the beginning it was only sets. I have recently thinned my sets down and started collecting some singles (mainly housemolds).

As of right now it's housemold singles and custom CPC sets.

Must be a playable set for me. I'll grab some barrels, samples, and the occasional single to see and feel the chips with a potential long term plan of getting a set if I really enjoy them.

Where’s the option for “only sets, no singles and absolutely no damn sample sets praise Jesus!”? Cause that’s me. Only playable sets or playable sets under construction. The fact that I own singles is only because I’ve amassed them in lots (while seeking chips for my sets) and I’ve been too lazy to sell them off.
Playable sets!

What kind of extra singles, eh?

I selected Sets and Singles with emphasis on Sets because, although I have more singles than I want to admit to, most of my time and money has gone into sets. Additionally, my sets see the felt (or at least they used to). I do use singles in airtites as card protectors but I don't think that is considered "emphasis."

Many of my singles are sample sets. Isn't that a requirement for membership? ;)

I've been collecting singles and samples of every type of chip, where "type" is rather loosely defined and flexible according to my mood. Accordingly, I have what I would consider a lot of singles and samples. But I definitely don't think of myself as a singles or samples collector, so I answered "Sets and the occasional single or sample set". It's more like the singles and samples are a subset or side effect of collecting sets; I pick up samples, shuffle stacks, and singles as a substitute for getting an entire set of the type of chip in question because I only have so much money and space to devote to full sets.

But I'm mostly just interested in types of chips, not specific chips, and that's a big part of why I don't think of myself as a singles collector. I have some old chips, some new chips, some from every manufacturer, some from every mold, some of every material, etc... I've got no desire to chase after a Binion's $5 or a Dunes $100 or whatever. I lump all of those together as "Casino, old, clay, Paulson, THC" and, well, I have a handful of those already so I'm good.

Sets.
A few samples of sets I loved too, 'cause I can't have everything in full playable quantity, so this a nice substitute.
Singles only randomly and occasionally. If it's a gift from a friend who 's played at Bellagio and thought of you while there, you can't really say "up yours, I do not collect singles". :)

I started out only wanting a cash and tourney set and bought samples to display because they were wayyyy cheaper than a set. Overtime, however, this view has evolved to encompass a collection of mainly samples and what will soon be a few sets. I’ve only been collecting for a year so my long term goals evolve and change, but I ultimately would like to have 3-4 cash sets (including the custom relabel I’m doing right now) and 3-4 tournament sets. For the samples side I tend to go after unobtainium with samples like 1st edition Bellagio, full Crystal Park, Palms, Binions, etc.

I have been a singles collector for 20+ years. I collect $1/€1/£1 (or any other '1' denominated) chips from all around the world. Currently, I am closing in on 11,500 different $1 singles in my collection. Only in the last 1.5 years have I started purchasing racks/quantities of chips to build custom sets.

I have sets, only sets that can be played for mostly 2-3+ tables each cash/tourney along the same them/set with #'s that allow no chips to cross btw cash/tourney sets to run a .25/50 to 1/2 NLHE and 25/100/500/1000- T1500 to T10000 tourney

ok 1 worn $5 chip from the local casino that made it home by accident in my pockets, i'd gladly turn it in when i make it back if still cashable. Other than that I just have some extra dealer buttons that were bought for fun to use with my current sets as alternatives or for themed games.

Can't vote. Every option had "...singles..." in one way or another.

I realized a while back that if it's not a playable set, it's not worth anything to me. I know. I'm an odd bird...
