Ceramics, and no surprise the venture failed. :wtf:

There was another ceramic line with a similar face image but different rolling edge artwork (I think maybe sold on HoldemPokerChips.com) but don't recall the chip name. @Potsie1?

These were fairly widely available about 12-15 years ago. I got the purple one as a sample as part of my first sample order. It convinced me that despite the fabulous feel of the Paulson sample, because they were sooo expensive ($1 each), ceramics were the way to go.

That's about when I found Chiptalk. I thought the less appealing look of the non purples, and because they were non denoms were reason enough to look for something else. That fork in the road brought me here.

A little internet sleuthing turned up that these are “Grand Royale” chips. Some sites said they were by Trademark Poker. There’s some for sale on Amazon, and some other retailers are selling for as little as 22 cents each.

These are definitely ceramics; you can clearly see the injection marks on the rolling edge.

About 8 years before I found any other chippers in the world I bought a set of these to upgrade my dice chips. There were called grand Royales, with a big R on them, and my last name starts with R so I thought cool!
I got like a 1000 of tourney denominations, but was not pleased with them at all. The graphics were not centered on most of the chips and the edge bled over a lot into the face in uneven patches. The colors were rich and dark, but just too dark. Frequent dirty stacks. They weren’t smooth at all, so no slippery stacks, but I can’t say I enjoyed the feel either, it was roughage? Like suede?
I returned them after a few day’s of study, lost shipping on them but was glad to move on.
That’s my experience. Yours may differ.

I think I have some of these still around, like 5 of each color that I bought for samples. If you want them let me know and I’ll dig them up.

Thx to all for the info...
I have a bunch of these and wanna sell them myself... I was just curious because I can't find anything about them...

I remember the Grand Royals as a stock offering on many of the old poker supply websites like discountcasino.com etc. As said above people complained of dirty stacks because the red looked like the orange etc.
Of course that was back when you could buy Paulson home sets for like $1.10 per chip and I scoffed at those also because of the “Paulson Chips” mold.
