$5k or so on a table use to be normal in my home game. We'd play 2 or 3 times a month. On a couple of occasions, around $10k. I can't afford to lose at those stakes anymore.
We have 17 players tonight. About $5000 just to start.

Well $1500 is my personal record which is awful.
I was told an interesting story at the casino recently by a guy that was at a high stakes home game that got robbed by dudes wearing ski masks, armed with machetes. They had over $35,000 stolen. He had almost $5000 taken from him personally.

That's pretty crazy! I'm sure there are a lot more cash games around my area with the big money, but I'm glad I steered clear of those at the time haha

I've sold out a $13,000+ chip set and had to hand write $500 markers to substitute for chips. One thing that let me know 600 chips are not enough in a set.
Yes it’s very shitty, but by the sounds of it, they were being extremely slack with security etc and weren’t keeping it at quiet as they should have, so a few people would have known it was a regular game.
They also left the front door totally unlocked and the guys walked right in unannounced.
Enough to buy a nice new car.

$22,000 back in 2007 during the internet boom. Stupid thing was it was a 2-5 game that got ridiculously deep. Couldn't imagine being at a $2-5 table with $6k+

We had a game I used to play in with some of my friends. It was a 1/2 NL game. We played it every Thursday sometimes on another night of the week also. It started out friendly enough in the beginning. You could bring a few hundred you would be fine. A few of the guys that started playing had really deep pockets and then would call anything. Suddenly a few hundred was not good enough and guys were bringing a few thoushand each and it started playing like 5/10 or even higher. I would say there was well over $10000 easy a lot of nights. It got to the point where guys said F it and decided to bring blank checks. The last time I played in that game one guy lost $15,000. He owed it to another guy, but the guy took like 8000 and called it even. My favorite part that I miss most of that game was after the Normal game we had what we called the “Degenrates Game” where like 4 or so guys would stay and play until the morning after everyone left. We played a bunch of Circus games and the stakes were normal. We all had to go work on Friday on zero sleep but we got used to it. That zero sleep was no good because one time during a work meeting they asked my opinion on something and I was half asleep and groggy and exclamated “I’m All In!”. Everyone in the meeting laughed.
The Canadian dollar was stronger back then.

A guy that was hosting, kept texting me to find out if I was coming to the game. I was 50/50 on making it out and ultimately passed on it. I heard the host had collected as many buyins as he could that night. He packed the family up (prepacked I bet) and walked out the back door with the entire pot. TRUE STORY

As for people robbed that sucks. Unfortunately not even electronic transfers (Venmo/Paypal) would prevent getting robbed... may just make it a bit awkward when the the players say there's no cash.
