What have I done? (2 Viewers)

The cure too that is to use those chips to win a bunch of money from your friends playing poker... Then spend it on more chips! It's a vicious cycle!

its a love-hate.

I can feel for this..I have been playing poker for 17 years and lately I have been playing a lot of home games with dice chips. Dropped over 700 on chips.

Last night I hosted my first game with the chips and everyone loved the look and feel. We had a great time and I woke up $350 richer! It's only because of these new chips I won this money:)

2500 in the last 6 months on two custom sets.

This is exactly my plan. I made a deal that I would only spend poker money on my chips. The Poker Gods have smiled on me over the years and I have a lot of chips now . . . .

But I have to say I would be daunted if I was starting chipping in today's price environment. I got my first set - a 1,000 Outposts for $600 shipped. No deals like that now.

Lol @Hot Nuts !

I struggle a bit with it too. I'm not a high income earner and am about to drop $2500(AUD) on a CPC set. Only doing it because my employer paid me a bonus which will cover it.

But the Paulsons... Yikes. Kinda wish I just got straight into CPCs instead of Paulsons TBH.

I feel sick every time I think about how much I just spent on poker chips.
It's the most expensive hobby I have ever personally had.

Probably would have been cheaper to be a crack addict.

You cant resell the crack that you used.
But chips ... you can definitive use them, and resell to buy more chips. (y)

yes it is...i started smoking crack to cure my chip addiction, plus it is definitely easier to find compared to some chips.....i fell off the wagon and bought 80 PCR chips a few weeks ago and a Dunes $500 chip....my crack dealer is going to be disappointed in me...

sell off some of the chips you dont use, then convince yourself that the sets you kept are worth double what you sold so you can say you actually are on the positive side moneywise....maff is easy

A longtime friend convinced his wife to let him buy a motorcycle. He managed to secure the vanity tag "17000" because, he says, that's how much he spent on it.

So at least you won't fall of your poker chips and break your neck.

Hey, where's my cut? I'd say I deserve a share of the riches for making those chips happen! :)

Could be worse, you could have sold an epic set then lost most of the profit in one nite playing juicy casino PLO game.
Thank you. That actually makes me feel better.

All poker related products whether its chips, cards, ect... come out of my winnings. Keeps my wife happy. Hence the reason why I only own three sets (four once the GOT ceramics get off the ground).

I just ordered some Rounders chips finally from CPC. Oh, and paid a 30% premium for being Canadian and stupid with my money and my timing. But that feeling when I first open those boxes......sooooooo worth it.

wait a minute, you guys actually win at poker???

dam i thought it was just an expensive hobby the thousands lost was the cost of learning??? i have been learning for years but i guess i missed the chapter in all the books about winning ....so when does this thing called winning kick in ?o_O

I had a great two years in our league/low stakes cash games. Outside of that I'm a break even player, lol........at best.

Every time my BR gets to "X" amount I'm going to start looking for more chips, lol. After the last two custom sets it has a way to go before I can start shopping again :)

Money is made to be spent.

I like to think I spend my money on "investments" to make my life better or increase my life experiences. I do not subscribe to the notion of "taxes" as "investments", think this is the opposite of my goals, as more is taken and it does not make me feel better about it. I "invest" in chips, I "invest" in vacations, and I "invest" in family and friends.

Don't get me wrong, I also max out my 401(k). I don't want 50lb Purina for the month's meals at age 70.

It is okay to splurge on nice things sometimes, just budget accordingly and plan for the future.

I use too many quotation marks......
