While this is certainly a cruelty and I don't advise anybody to do this, it certainly is, what my chips have currently become.

Since we're still in lockdown my Homegame is now a Home Monopoly game with the maximum allowed contacts. Haven't really gotten around to using these beauties for anything else yet so I'll at least have everyone have a look at this :)
I will be back when they are finally on a more deserving table but until then they'll be MonopolyDollars
And it's actually way more effective that the old paper that comes with the game. You should try it's fun :)

Two great board games that use money:

I'm The Boss (aka Kohle, Kie$ & Knete in Germany) - A game about negotiations

Acquire - A game about making good investments

I'm The Boss is easy to pick up and a lot of fun to play, since it's about making deals with each other to screw each other over. Acquire is a little more complicated and your friends might not easily see how to win, but it can be a fiercely competitive game once they "get" it. Both of them use paper money but you can use your poker chips instead and have a lot of fun!

It's sad but pretty funny! Never had that thought to use my chips that way
To be honest it is just great. Especially since we aren´t allowed to have more that one person come over currently Monopoly is the way easier choice. And it definetly is way quicker especially in the lategame of monopoly when money just goes from A to B over and over until someone overlucks the other.

I hate to be the one to tell you this.... but you're missing Jack casino dice!! I haven't gotten the chips in play, but I've replaced all our board game dice with those. I want to make sure every roll is is accurate.

Honestly, I've always thought that using chips for Monopoly was a great idea. The paper money usually runs out when we play so using chips would allow sufficient funding.

After losing, folding and unfolding, spilling things on and otherwise hating cheap paper money in games I have completely settled on poker chips....

I am trying to think of ways to play this as a fun game somehow to race off chips in colour ups scenarios of tournaments where I play my Horse Shoe Chips..... would be a break for racing so to speak....or the dollar figures from this 1960's game match up with being a old time high roller. (copied and pasted pics from the net, i have the same one that my father had purchased. I rode as an exercise jockey for a few years at Woodbine so the game is a bit dear to me (my set is complete except the green horses tail is "doc'ed". The wager pay tables are meaningless any figures could be used based on the preset odds in the game or from an actual pool of bets....This game is outstanding for possibilities and outcomes.

Right? Sounds like someone tried and loved it xD
Exactly, Everytime someone passes got the ease of grabbing 2-100 chips from the bank is so much easier than counting, getting a paper cut and mistakenly giving 300because the paper sticks together. Chips are where it's at for any board game requiring cash. Then when paying those 1+ house rents of $30 to $190 counting physical play Bill's is not fun....takes very little time with easier to count chips.

Wow - have never thought about pairing chips with board games - great idea!

A few decent boardgames in the UK which the chips can be substituted for paper money (I assume you can get these in the US, Europe too & some are quite old so might be an eBay job):
- Hotel (a bit like Monopoly but you get planning permission, build hotels)
- Mine a million (build mines for coal and transport it to sell it)

(all end with the same painful demise for those who aren't winning ... much like Monopoly! ha)

My wife calls Monopoly "Flip the Table", apparently due to how some of her games ended when she was younger. All I can think about now is watching all those chips fly across the room in a fit of rage over a game of Monopoly. I find that vision slightly humorous for some reason.

Solution for gaming chips is "cheap" chips when things could get messy, such as evenings with the family..... lol

This is one reason to buy a inexpensive set to put on the shelf with the board games for your kids etc... to use for gaming, math counters, etc...
I bought this set for ~100 bucks for monopoly/game cash alternative and as a math counting aid for my daughter. These chips are relatively soft material and stack incredibly well for the pricepoint. If I had found a set like this for my first chips i'd have likely never looked for better. Since taking the picture I have added on 50-1000 and 25-5000 value chips.

If a few go missing---so what
if a few are chewed by the dog, children or "something"---so what
These chips are expendable, kind of like feeder goldfish. No point leaving your nice gear out, but you can reinforce gaming at home over xbox and socializing with the ability to use the nice sets when you are able to ensure the nice stuff isn't mangled. Plus it is a heck of a single table swiss-army set of denoms etc for almost anything.

They are relatively redundant chips otherwise than as described above....I do like these chips, but I have so many other options in many games I would choose other gear like the HSI's in for Win/Place/Show etc.....

I posted this in the BR Pro photo thread, but I'll add it here too. I added $1 and $10 chips to my DDLM tourney set to make it work for Monopoly too. Instead of $20 and $50 I just have $25 chips, but it seems to work just fine so far. The chips have been faster than handling the paper money and making sure the bills aren't stuck together.

In addition to poker, my first CPC set was designed to fill board game needs.

I've used them for:

1) Monopoly
2) Merchant of Venus
3) DungeonQuest
4) Talisman 4th Ed.
