Was there anything I missed or did no one pay the bills?

Travis didn’t have time to run it. So it got shut down

My guess is the demise was due to a mix of the public meltdown/Walter Sobchak situation, and the constant modding/admin work that sites like this require, which ultimately took their toll on Travis.

Owning a forum site is a thankless job, and you have to commit numerous hours each day just to keep things running smoothly - for which you’re not getting paid.

Addressing personality conflicts, political debates, backend issues, software updates (or crashes), etc., can require additional time on top of basic admin duties that eat into one’s personal life. It’s like having a second full time job. I ran a forum site once in the mid-2000s and I swore I’d never do it again.

Honestly, given he had a new child, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. Hats off to him for giving it a go.

I was about to be the first guest player to win a match :)

Buy a vowel, Bill.

"American Flugelhorn Enemas" and "Asperger's Meets Assmunchers"

So yes. Totally safe for work.

The story goes, or at least what I heard is, that he became a dad and wanted to step away. Apparently no one volunteered to take over.

I believe a couple of people offered to take over. Due to problems problem's/concerns in switching over forum management it was decided to just end the site.

If they are appropriate, perhaps just start them here if you want them! I don't know what those TLAs (i.e., the Three Letter Acronym for a three letter acronym) mean....

AMA = Ask Me Anything. It was a get-to-know-you thread where members asked questions of those on the hot seat and most questions were answered.

@Joe E. was last running AMA at CD.

AFE = All Fantasy Everything where 4-6 members would draft on any random topic (best sandwich, bestb fictional athlete, best game show, best casino chip). Ball busting would ensue during the draft (grilled cheese sandwich and Air Bud were both drafted -- and it it wasn't obvious from the mockery above, @detroitdad drafted Wheel if Fortune in the best TV Game Shows draft) and then the members would vote on who had the best draft.

Those that created the AFE drafts (or some of them) are banned here.

By the way the site started it doesn’t surprise me that it’s done. A lot of the early content was so bitter because of the boat chip debacle, which hurt it right from the beginning as not many chippers wanted to hear constant whining. Travis made a huge blunder by losing his mind in the Walter thread, that was a blow to the site too.

Once that settled down it was much more pleasant there, though I personally am no fan of some of the members banned here that were members there.

Most of the actual chip traffic was always gonna be here, so it really doesn’t surprise me that the other place folded. We all need to just sack up and get along on one site imo

With a bunch of poker sites disappearing from the web, I have to say that I'm still impressed that the lights are still on at CT. I don't know whether that's a testament to Ten's commitment or stubbornness, but there is still a lot of useful knowledge on the site regarding the "early days" of the hobby.

The fact that the lights are still on is a testament to ONLY one person...abby99.

Bury the hatchet and reinstate everyone that was banned. Time to move on.

even the j... one who is spitting on french people all the time with no reason ?

I think this guy ignores who offered Statue of Liberty to USA, he probably ignores too what Yorktown means for both of our country.

And he probably ignores too who Marquis de Lafayette and Comte de Rochambeau were.

I live better on PCF since he's been banned him and his friends.
