I ordered lots and samples and got my girfriend to rank them least favourite (left) to most favourite (right) based on weight, feel and sound (so ignoring designs). There were some pretty interesting results. I'm planning on ordering some 43mm ceramics and her 2 least favourite things were 43mm and smooth ceramics

Dayumn!! My favorite cheap chips got middle of the pack!! Thise Casino Royales are better than that!! Glad to see the Knights made it to the right side with the Royals... those are the 3 chips I suggest when people come and ask about chips on a limited budget!! I say keep Her!! But ask her to check the Casino Royales one more time... I think they could beat anything in row 1 or 2... row 3 has tough competition with the BJ and Royals in the same row!

1. What did you tell her should be favored , heavy or light weight?

2. Pretty sneaky of you to put the Royal and the Majestic in the same row. :cool
I didn't say anything, I just said pick what you like (and she had no preconceptions, as she doesn't know anything about poker chips)

Haha she's bored of it now so not sure I'll be able to get her to revalidate

Dang broke the Cardinal rule... never say no to samples!! Never know which one is going to be the perfect chip for you!!

So what's the front runner in your opinion so far??

I'm a bit confused since there are five rows and you say she has her least fav to fav from left to right. Are you suppose to go left to right from top to bottom, where the bottom right chip was her absolute fav?

Pretty reasonable evaluations imo, given her limited options. I see that her only real clay chip choice scored low, though. :(

Try again with better options, but forewarning, it might be time for an upgrade.....

Yeah sorry the way to read it is like a book so 1st row left to right, then second row left to right and so on

So she liked the Showdown/Poker Knights/Monaco Club chips. I've seen many other non-chip poker players like them a lot as well. And they are good for what they are and the price. Only thing I dislike is the weight (which not entirely turned off of) and the muted colors in person.

Haha samples I'm cool with its the £15 shipping to the UK that hurts. So when I get them I try to do it in bulk

Give her a brake gentleman... I agree row one definitely needs some work, row 2 is definitely 100% backwards... but she basically nailed rows 3 and 4!!

Those scrolls should not be on the right. You have some ABCs coming? Good! It'll knock those scrolls back to the pit they came from.
Don't think I worded my original post very clearly the scrolls came 15th so don't worry! Row 1 was 20th to 16th row 2 15th to 19th. Yeah ABC should be here in about 2 weeks I reckon

Oooooooh! Well that's different! Royals and CPCs at the top? Yup, makes sense to me. Surprised THC didn't make an appearance based on feel.

Also, I don't see any Sunfly Polyinno hybrids. Those have a unique feel that some love and some hate.

Ohh my... so the CIC BrBelly and the Mint from Claysmiths made the top 5??

FORGIVE HER FATHER... FOR SHE KNOWS NOT WHAT SHE RANKS!! THEY ARE JUST LITTLE ROUND DISCS TO HER!!

Of course I am kidding buddy, actually really enjoyed the post! Kinda cool to hear the perspective sometimes from someone that really has no idea what each one are or what they are worth... nothing terribly expensive in this lot but still interesting.

Yeah she like the weight of the metal slug chips

Yeah she loves the heavy weight of the metal insert. I had Paulson in there but somehow moved them before taking the photo (they finished mid table)

I can see where she's coming from with that. However there's a big difference between a few chips here and there or even a stack of slugs compared with 300 of those chips sitting in front of you during an actual game. Heavy != Good

I can't say I blame her... I was late getting into this game and did the same thing you did. I really like the Knights... was about to pull the trigger except they didn't have the fracs in stock at the time. @FordPickup92 bought me my first 2 racks of Paulsons at the same time... there was no going back!

Yeah a few people recommended I should get samples of those sunfly chips so will keep an eye out

I completely agree during the test I gave her 2 of every chip (as that all I got of most of them). She said the Paulson were to light but when I gave her 7 or 8 she commented how much better they felt & that the ABS were now fairly heavy. Would be good to repeat with 10 of each chip

I can't tell you how many times breaking out different chips for people to check out, that they always pick those Fake Binions WSOP 18 gram Brass crap chips and say wow!! Now these are awesome!! Damn they are heavy... how much for these??? I shake my head every single time. It's almost bad enough I am thinking of taking them out of the feeler collection. To total noobs they win almost every single time simply based off weight!!

Something still seems off here. :) maybe you meant row 2 15th to 11th?

Also, just evaluating the feel/weight of 1 chip (versus a whole barrel or rack of the same chip) reminds me of the flaw of the "New Coke" taste test in the US back in the 1980s, where taste tests were done on the basis of a sip or a small sample (a couple ounces), rather than drinking an entire drink of a 12 oz. can or glass.

From wikipedia:
In his book Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking (2005), Malcolm Gladwell relates his conversations with market researchers in the food industry who put most of the blame for the failure of New Coke on the flawed nature of taste tests. They claim most are subject to systematic biases. Tests such as the Pepsi Challenge were "sip tests", meaning that drinkers were given small samples (less than a can or bottle's worth) to try. Gladwell contends that what people say they like in these tests may not reflect what they actually buy to drink at home over several days.[33] Carol Dollard, who once worked in product development for Pepsi, told Gladwell: "I've seen many times where the sip test will give you one result and the home-use test will give you the exact opposite."[33]:159 For example, although many consumers react positively to the sweeter taste of Pepsi in small volumes, it may become unattractively sweet when drunk in quantity. A more comprehensive testing regimen could possibly have revealed this, Gladwell's sources believe.[33]
