Going to Montreal this weekend for a bachelor party. From what I am seeing, there are two casinos there. Any experience playing poker at either of these. Will be playing $1/$2.

Thanks!

If you want soft play against drunk tourists, go to Casino de Montreal. If you want to play against regs and pros, go to Playground.

Also, remember this when playing in Montreal:

(R)oi=(K)ing, (D)ame=(Q)ueen, (V)alet=(J)acks. I paid $285 to learn that the hard way lol.

Palais des Congres, and please bring back a 2000pc playable set. Since it's closed, I figure the locals can hook you up with singles. Take your time though. There's a lot of people in Montreal and I'm in no rush. Hope your French is on point!

Please and thank you :p

Playground: They use AKQJ decks there. The rake is quite high but you get free drinks, and their reward system works out to about a free meal after 2 hrs of play. The kitchen is top notch. Great spot for PLO (there's almost always a game) and lots of good daily tournaments. There's a WPT happening there the following Monday. It's about a 15 min drive from down town. It's on the Kanawaki reserve. 1/2 is just as soft as casino Montreal but the 2/5 is likely filled with grinders. If you're staying in Montreal, there's a bus that leaves Playground around 2:30 AM I believe. Next bus is at like 7am.

Montreal: They use RDV decks and the rake is reasonable. I don't believe there are free drinks or decent food comps. When I was there the poker room was filled with retirees (from what it seemed) and only a few under 50 yr old players. Not a very splashy game. I've heard the 2/5 plays deep and is generally a really good game. Food options kinda suck there other than the buffet which is like $40 CDN. Only resteraunt is like a cafeteria style spot with decent wings. Also, evidently the strip clubs in Montreal are incredible. A friend told me.

The Casino De Montreal is located in 2 of the buildings built for the Expo in '67.
Its been almost 10 years since I played there but I remember the building was pretty interesting. Not your standard casino or card room.

Interesting! I always thought that it wasn't your typical looking casino when you see it coming off the highway.
