I'm a serious nucking fitpicker, so when it comes to building and/or collecting playable sets, I generally do not:
- mix manufacturers
- mix material types
- mix mold types
- mix mold sizes
- mix inlay sizes
- mix inlays with hot-stamps
- mix radically different chip conditions
or any combination thereof.
Pretty sure that none of the dozen or so sets that currently reside in the collection violate those seven canons (although some past sets have done so).
Two "unnatural" items I'm less concerned with are mixing original inlay chips with re-labeled chips (or inlay replacements), and mixing unleaded chips with older leaded chips. I have two sets with the former, two sets with the latter, and one set with both.
However, I consider all "specialty" chips associated with a set to be exempt from all the above listed restrictions (bounty, re-buy, re-load, all-in, seating, etc.).
