What am I looking at here? FAKE Golden Nugget chip? (1 Viewer)

^^ Thanks for that; I was having serious difficulty finding an I anywhere in that image. :)

I thought they used Paulsons at WSOP. Got this pic from a buddy playing yesterday. Hybrids?

I dealt the WSOP 3 different times, the defiantly have Paulson chips, as well as Bud Jones. There are at least 5 different tournament chips sets in use almost daily. The early bracelet event usually used Paulsons with a darker color pallet, these are the ones used in the main event. The late event, usually either a higher buy-in and/or a non-hold'em event used a more muted color but still Paulson chip set. The daily deepstacks all used Bud Jones chips in 3 different color pallets, these look like the ones used in the 6pm $185 deepstack. For super large events like the Senior's event, the Millionaire Maker or The Colossus they switch up the chip sets and use one of the Bud Jones sets because they will be in use longer and they don't want two bracelet events using the same chip sets if it can be avoided. I think there are even be 2 additional Paulson sets without edge spots, one for the single table satellites and another for when they are using one of the Bud Jones sets for a bracelet event. They may have a lot of problems at the WSOP but they really do make a effort to have some security on not having the same chips in play in multiple events at the same time.
Upon looking again, this is 2 different sets used together, the chip on the left is from the set normally used for the $235 deepstack with 2 on the right normally used in the $185 deepstack.
(The WSOP may have changed the times of the deepstacks so I appolgize if my times for the deepstacks throws anyone off)

Ok, I'm from Missouri, the "Show me state" right? I had to see it for myself. My sister brought me one straight for the Golden Nugget.

I hate it !

I don't like the trend, and it doesn't make a ton of sense from a security perspective. High quality clay is insanely difficult to duplicate, whereas every Icon chip I've seen looks like it could printed for 20 cents a piece on Alibaba and they might even come out printed better.

These chips look like shit. I should sell them my cards mold GN replicas.

I doubt anyone is gonna fake the $1 chip and I'm guessing they're using these cheap ones since they're <$1 per. I'm guessing Paulson charges more than a buck per piece now and since a lot of them walk out the door, they would loose money. If they start doing this to $100 and up I'm pretty sure we'll see fakes fast and they would have to re-evaluate.

November 29 2023- Current rack ratio stats:
28 non Icons per 100 .
Argh, that’s really disappointing. I really dislike the feel of these chips - they feel worse than any other “professional” plastic chip I’ve ever handled, which is saying a lot. Do they stack at all well? It feels like even a barrel would be sliding and falling all over the place.

Well... if you start thinking of how many times each of these $1s has been cashed in prior to it being taken out of the casino, I'm not so sure about the losing part.

In fact, that would be an interesting (albeit difficult/impossible) thing to find out - how many times is each chip used?

It’s possible that Resorts World would have that kind of data, with the RFID in every chip. Would be really interesting to see for sure.

If the cost of chips gets too unruly, could we see casinos transition to using $1 coins instead of chips at all? Like how we don't see 50¢ chips much anymore?
