So I log into pokerstars this morning, and there are no tables active. I take a seat at a new table, hoping for some heads up action. Within seconds, the table fills up with users from Russia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. I play a few hands and leave the table thinking “this is pretty strange”. As soon as I leave, all of the other players do too, and again there are no active tables.

wtf?

The fact that P* even let's users do that means I will never play there. Not that I could anyway.

Call me old or whatever you want. I’ve NEVER liked the idea of online poker. Way too many unknowns and potential for all kinds of cheating

Personally I would not play cash games online for a variety of reasons. I think it’s a huge disadvantage when the pros have huds and could potentially be colluding. I don’t play online besides low stakes PCF games but if I did I would stick to tournaments.

This is my opinion as well.

I once had same situation , I sat at a empty 3/6 cash NLH cash game 6 handed table on BCP and boom they all filled up, I got dealt KQ first hand sooted and flop QQ3 get it all in only to be against AQ loss entire stack, felt it was suspicious, jumped on another empty table and boom all filled instantly all from different country users all of the names with no records on sharkscope!!! Def bots programmed from site

"Porn Stars", a column in the Penthouse magazine I avidly read as a teenager back in the '80s, proved to be a lot more trustworthy than "Poker Stars"
Let alone that it drastically improved my English:D

Everyone wants online poker and mourns black Friday back in the day, but I don't. I fear bots, HUDs, collusion, insider access, programmed cards to incent action, etc. You can't guarantee none of that will not happen, so I am out for online even if it were legalized.

Count me as someone that is wary of playing online because of this. With stories like this and having online account suddenly frozen with no access to the money in it...no way. Would rather go to Atlantic City, rake and all, if I feel like high stakes poker.

People have seating scripts on their computer that auto seat them at a table when someone else sits down. Not necessarily anything shady like collusion or something, but at the very least they'd be solid players who put forth the effort to deal with a script to find action at higher stakes.

I used to play a lot of online poker back in the hay day (early 2000's). This was back when all cash games were limit (no-limit was only used for tourneys). I cleaned up on a site called Pacific Poker playing $15-$30 limit hold'em. It was the softest competition I've ever seen. It was like money in the bank. I cashed out steadily, every month. That only lasted for about a year though, then everything dried up and eventually it got outlawed in the U.S.

All that being said, I don't think I'd trust online poker too much now adays. I miss those good ol' days.

I’ve always just played for free to pass the time and see cards. The randomness has always been a little suspect over the last 10-15 years and I’ll never play real money online again but lately it’s gotten crazy. I can’t get up no matter how solid I play (against people who have very little exp)....(guess I suck?!?). I noticed lately though that if the short stack goes all in, he will win 90% of the time. To the point I try to stay in front of the trend, where if I win a big pot and the guy goes all in on the next hand I’ll fold AJ s cause I know he’ll have like J6 and win almost every time. Also like a one table tournament will last almost the same amount of time no matter how good or bad the players are. I know its only free and people play anything when it’s free but isn’t the program the same? It just seems so unnatural to a real game.
