Vegas with the family? (1 Viewer)

Tuscany Inn & Suites is a chill spot I have stayed at.

I hear South Point and Green Valley Ranch are nice but never been.

When I was about 10 my parents took me and my brother to the Excalibur medieval show on a Vegas trip, that was pretty fun. 1-6 might be a bit young for that though. Never stayed off strip though.

When I was younger my parents would take my brother and I to Vegas for a weekend on our way to visit family in Cali. I remember having loads of fun as a kid and seeing some cool shows (of course the Bellagio fountain sticks in my memory). We stayed at the Paris, but took some trips to see some other cool casinos. I remember New York New York having a great arcade for a 10 year old to play in

Disney>>>>>>>>>>>>Vegas

When you see drunk ladies pushing their kid in a stroller at 1am with the porn cards from the porn slappers jammed in the frame you realize this is not a place to bring your children.

Yes you crazy.

I do, but my inlaws are there so we dump them off there. Usually take them to the strip one day/evening for dinner/shopping/a show. But couldn't imagine having it be a full time/full family vacation when you're looking to go just play tournaments.

I did this last winter for two days while visiting family in Arizona to try it out. (2 & 4 year old). We had grandparents that helped which made it easier. Because we had grandparents we were able to get one night out for dinner. My wife got to do some shopping alone and I got to play cards.

Things you have not thought of yet:

1.) getting around with a double stroller is a pain in the ass
2.) you have to use the elevators on the strip which are filthy and take a lot of time
3.) your kids will touch everything
4.) lots of walking, unless you have a car which means parking and traveling with child seats
5.) Smoking and Recreational cannabis outdoors

My advice, find a different place to go.

You can make it work in Vegas with kids. The right way to do it is play at the pool all day and then go out for dinner after. If there is time and interest take them to some fun shows. For goodness sake though get your kids in bed at a reasonable hour! It is heartbreaking seeing kids in strollers on the strip all hours of the morning.

However, that experience isn't really Vegas and can be accomplished in any city with good weather.

I would definitely pass on bringing kids in diapers/strollers though.

I'd highly recommend taking the family to Circus Circus. It's extrenely clean and safe, the hotel rooms are top notch, and they have plenty of Michelin Star restaurants. Plus, the poker room is one of the best in Nevada.

Back to reality, don't take your kids to Vegas. If you do, maybe go to Green Valley Ranch because they have Kids Quest, a movie theater, a pool, and a nearby shopping center. You can sneak out to the strip (about 17 mins away) to play some tournaments since it's not too far away. But still, maybe don't take your kids to Vegas.

If you can keep them entertained off the strip then maybe it would be ok. I was just there this weekend with my 16 year old for a soccer tournament.

The teenagers could handle it, but I wouldn’t want little kids anywhere near the strip with all the drunks, hookers, weed, homeless, crazy ass people. and half dressed street performers.

It would then take you time to travel into the casinos for poker and leave the family alone. Personal take, never bring kids to Vegas, it’s for adults.

Yeah that was my fantasy. They can hang at a cool resort while I go play a single MTT. Odds are I bust day one anyways. Could be doable if I brought my wifes mom along. This all doesnt sound fun anymore. Guess I will stick with local cash games for now.

Vegas is about as family as a small town Memorial day parade on crack (ironic, that's almost a thing too). Your kids are super young, so they probably won't remember it until they're in their 40's and have all sorts of unusual repressed emotions and fetishes without knowing why... Don't be the dad playing craps, smoking, and drinking a beer while you're wife and kids stand 20-feet away dripping wet from the pool!

Waiting... after they leave for college, think of it as a reward for raising your kids right. I didn't do it intentionally. Frankly, I couldn't afford it while my kids were young, but it was a hell of a good time after like 20 years of not going.
