I have 3 racks of Casablanca $5’s which I believe to be mint and possibly uncirculated but no way to confirm. These are the sharpest of all my chips.

Interestingly, if you compare the middle rack to the outer rack, the middle rack appears a darker shade of red and the yellow spot is even brighter. This middle rack is so clean and bright. I can’t believe it. Any ideas why? Just a different run/lot? Different recipe? Oil?

Hmmm even the red on the inlay is darker...oil won’t fix that.

Edit...the inlays don’t exactly match either. Look at where the plane’s wing crosses the “N” on the middle chip compared to the outer chips. The whole font is different if you really look at it.

I thought oil until the above post mentioned the inlay. Pretty interesting. I'd bet a light edge oiling on the other two racks would bring them to a closer shade though.

Brings back memories. Oil might help the chalky red chips get a little bit darker, but I also found evidence of different runs.

It's been several years, but I sorted through about 9+ racks of Casablancas, in very good/excellent condition, and I noticed slight differences in color when the chips were racked up. I didn't think too much of it, but after closer review, I also noticed differences in the inlays. IIRC, I think I might have found evidence of 3, maybe, 4 different runs or batches of the chips. I think you have 3 of the different ones I found.

After sorting them by inlay, the colors of the chips were much more uniform themselves in racks. Here are my findings, using your 3 inlays above.

I think this was the most common chip in my bunch -- lighter red colored Casablanca banner, and the plane's bottom wing tip is to the right of the N.

Might have been second most common - darker red colored Casablanca banner, the plane's bottom wing tip is left of the N, and the lettering in Casablanca is slightly different/less bold.

Plane wing tip was to the right of the N, but the Casablanca inlay banner was a slightly more magenta color than red. I think this was the least common among the types.

In addition to the wing position, the fonts of both "Casablanca" and "Casino" are different in style and size.
