My fave restaurants in town are:
Blue Water Cafe, Savio Volpe, Sandbar, Joe Fortes, Minami

Cool places to visit (tourist stuff) is Granville Island (you can take the seabus across the inlet to and from downtown), grouse mountain (tram ride up, good view of the city and there’s a decent restaurant up there too), Whistler village, maybe Richmond night market.

If you like hockey, don’t bother seeing the Canucks because they suck haha

Thanks!! And hockey is actually why we’re coming, but as Pens fans, lol. Catching the game there then Seattle

Well it’s a good thing your a Pens fan haha just don’t judge our city based on our team

Not a fan? It’s not my fave by the seafood Caesar at lunch is
No, I’ve been so disappointed with their direction. Super expensive and increasingly bland food.

Service and atmosphere are amazing, but I swore them off after my last meal

A lot of tourist attractions, bars, restaurants, etc. have COVID restrictions, such as proof of vaccination, limited access, reservation required, etc.

Are you renting a car? If not, get a hotel within 2-3 blocks of the stadium (trip advisor or booking.com ratings are probably your best guide to quality and service). Gastown and Yaletown are within walking distance, lot’s of places to eat and drink there or near the hotels.

If you have a car, self driving tour of Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, Lynn Canyon, Seymour Mountain or Cypress Mountain, Deep Cove, Sunset Beach, Kitsilano, many other sites (summer time Wreck Beach would be on the list, but it’s a little cold for nude beach visits this time of year).

Thanks for the tips!! We will have a rental car, but I’d prefer to leave it parked for the most part. Looks like a pretty solid public transport system right?

Yes, and a Skytrain ride from downtown to Waterfront Station and a round trip ride on the Seabus to Lonsdale Quay is a very budget friendly sightseeing trip ( worthwhile going the other way to Surrey and back for a trip through the suburbs and over the Fraser River). Just avoid the daily commuter rush hours.

Just adding a ride around False Creek and Granville Island on one of the ferries (2 different companies) is good sightseeing, and there are lots of restaurants/ brew pubs on Granville Island. Not sure if the casino near the stadium/False Creek is still spreading poker or not.

Thanks, you guys rock!!

How’s Chinatown? Or any other street food vendor areas to check out? That Richmond night market looks cool

Richmond night market is a lot of fun. Chinatown downtown is... interesting. It's gritty for sure, don't leave valuables out, but it's not dangerous, just loads of homeless people.

My list to visit would be
  1. Granville Island
  2. Van Dusen Gardens
  3. Stanley Park
  4. Seawall
  5. Yaletown
  6. West End

Honestly, you can't go wrong. Do you have kids with you? What area are you staying in?

No kids for this trip, just me and a buddy. 2 nights there then 2 nights in Seattle. I haven’t booked a room yet, but most likely will get one within walking distance to the arena

Thanks for all the advice! Our time in town ended up being shorter than expected, but we still had a blast!! Absolutely beautiful city, honestly one of my favorite cities I’ve visited, and I hope to have a reason to come back soon.

We rode the seabus over to north Vancouver and checked that area out, and then back across town for an aqua bus to Granville. Had a solid lobster roll at Mr Lobster or Lobster man or something like that there.

Stayed right by your soccer stadium that puts a lot of US stadiums to shame! Hung out in that area a lot, downtown(?), Yaletown, Gas town, and Chinatown and got some great dumplings there. Got poutine late each night at Mean Poutine.

The hockey game was great, great crowd even though they’re going through their struggles. Very welcoming, lots of good hockey talk, and I appreciated all the love Sid gets there !

Hit the suspension bridge park on our way out, which was the only thing slightly disappointing, still cool though.

Went to Seattle and Portland afterwards. Vancouver was by far my favorite!

Next time stop to @Pippa house for Italian dinner and poker game with PCF guys!!!
Sounds good!! We got in kinda late our first evening after traveling all day, hockey game was the second night, then split pretty early the 3rd day.

Greatly appreciate the invite!

Cheers from Owen Sound, Ontario.
I mostly just collect $1 chips from Canadian Casinos. I have over 200 different ones. Missing lots of current ones and and always up for a trade. 100s of traders from all over the world.

Take care,
Jeff

Hello from Ottawa. If you're ever coming to town send me a PM. We have a great group here. Some PCFers and just generally nice savages too.
