I'm on pace to use this set once or twice a year for limit games. Thoughts on using it for a .50/1 or 1/1 cash game. For the fracs I would use either the sunsets or the motor city quarters. My question is, would this drive you crazy? Would you be willing to give it a shot? It would be a weird ass break down for starting stacks.

The set is

200 x 1
600 ish x 2
100 x 25
20 x 100

Here is what I was thinking. Feel free to tweak it, shoot it down completely. Thanks

.25/.50 100 max buy in

8 x .25
18 x 1
40 x 2

1/1 150 max buy in

20 x 1
40 x 2
2 x 25

Basically, would it drive you crazy to play a .25/.50 or 1/1 game without any fives?

The people I'm most interested in hearing what they have to say are the guys that would be using them. However, anyone please feel free to sound off.

@ChaosRock , @Sprouty , @mike32 , @Azcat , @K1100lt and @ThePunk

It wouldn't be bad for the .25/.50 game as the bets are smaller early in the hand so using the $2 chips wouldn't be bad.

But for a 1/1 game, the lack of a $5 chip would hurt the game and slow it down to much.

You may want to consider trying a spread limit game as well.

Pre flop and flop $10 max bet, turn and river $20 max bet? The set would work well for those size bets.

I wouldn't mind playing a smaller game with $2s and no $5s... We play $1/$2 and $2/$5 in casinos with mountains of $5s so playing a 25¢/50¢ game with 25¢ and $2 would be okay... Although in that case, the $1s would be kinda out of place, redundant...

Bigger games without the $5s would be a problem imo...

hate* using $1s and $2s in the same game

*okay, hate might be a strong word. then again, maybe not.

$2 chips have their place. Neither scenario in OP (25¢/50¢ or $1/$1) is one of them.

Thanks guys. My personal problem is having chips sit on the shelf and not get used. It drives me fricken crazy. I'm just looking for an alternative use for them.

Could be fun, could be a nightmare. All depends on your groups ability to cut and handle chips.

You could add 200-300 of the Mardi Gras $5's from Hold'em Poker chips to use with your $1 & $25 chips. They are the same edge spot, inlay size, just different art work.

Or better yet, post a willing to buy add and hope someone has some $5's for the Riverboat set they are willing to sell.

I just added 400 chips to the Soapy's Parlor set that will become $5 chips for the same reason. Now the set can be used for any game I host.

I would be down to give the .25/.50 a whirl.

I never thought I would have liked $10 chips until we played with some Saturday.

I always thought it would have been cool to build an alternative cash set with $.50, $2, $10, and $50 chips.

Trust me. I thought of that. I've capped my chip spending for now. If I could find some fives at the price the rest of this set cost me I'd probably have no choice.

I have no problem using $2 chips, and like others said I think it would be fine for the smaller game. I also think it would be fine for the bigger game in but you would need $5's as well. I don't mind 1,2 and 5 dollar chips on the table at all. A cheaper alternative would be buy 300 blank T mold BCC chips from holdempokerchips.com for 69 cents each (I have heard there may be room for negotiation) and use 200 of one color for 5's and 100 of another color for quarters. Then you have a do it all set, but there is a compromise.

Let's face it, you are going to sell them.

I think I will post a want to buy Riverboat add. Can someone remind me if these are V1 or V2 chips? As a back up I could order the Mardi Gras chips. I don't have (or want to spend) 300 plus on two racks of fives.

@mike32 chips are beautiful. I love that 10 Good Luck chip. Its probably my favorite in the bunch. I was just sad I couldn't accumulate more of them :(

I can't argue that. I don't want to. I really like them. As I said. I hate owning chips and not getting them into play. If their going to sit on the shelf then I feel obligated to move them. I've had the PCNY's for 4 months now. That might not seem like a long time to most. Its probably the second longest non custom set outside of the SP's that I have held onto before selling. I haven't even had a tiny itch to move the PNY's. Heck, if I could afford it I would add on to them.

I have never been a fan of Paulson Fantasy chips but playing with these made me think other wise. I really liked them.

These are V1. $5s will probably be tough to find, but you could always consider using $10s ;)

I think I will try this out on the 18th at our league game. I usually provide the cash set for @Azcat . I think this will be the trial run to see if it works. The cash game that follows the tourney is normally .25/.50 with a 60 max buy in. I'm going to try it with both quarters, ones, and twos.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I also found a bunch of threes for sale. However, the only way this would work is if I turned it into a re label project. Is that possible with these chips? I couldn't use tens as fives without changing them.

You on the league sublist? triple stack tourney on the 18th. 60.00 buy in. I'm pretty sure there are some seats open. Game is in Livonia.

Thats a great question for gear. It would need to be a smaller label with color matching, but it might work. The $3 chips as $5s would be super hot!

@Gear

This is the only picture I could find. Any thoughts on relabeling a riverboat chip? I would need color matching. I don't have the three dollar chips. I don't want to buy them if a relabel project wouldn't work.

If you need to see any Riverboat chip first to see if it would be able to relabel then I could send you a couple.

Thanks,

I think relable is a no go on these chips as the inlay is bigger than the recess (giant inlay). The chips would stack and feel like crap.

Thanks for compliments on the Good Luck Club set guys. I am pretty proud of that one and love to get it into play.

Yeah, I thought the denomination might be inside the inner circle, though I wonder how much effort it would be to turn that 3 into a 5 with a little paint....
