Hello,

I found this forum when i started to search for a mold for creating poker chips.
Until now instead of ceramic powder, i think i bought plaster powder.

I'm having difficulties to create my own ceramic poker chips, because i'm stuck at the mold stage.

If i understood right, on this forum, you guys are creating your own poker chips at home and trade them here, sell it ?

I think you understood wrongly, we don't make our own poker chip but we do design & customize the inlay of the poker chips and order them online

Trading poker chip? Yes

Selling Poker chip? Yes but some or a number are flipping them too

What we do more than selling are buying them and hoarding them thou

Hello and welcome.

You've several types of ceramic chips but none of them have mold. Some have "debossed" elements though.

Here're different types of ceramics with examples.

Plain ceramics
The chips are fully printed (by sublimation) and do not have any relief on it.
Their surface can be smooth or textured.
Forum vendors here @SUN-FLY Poker Chips and @ABC Gifts and Awards can produce custom ones.
You can find them in 39mm or 43mm.

Example : stock Nevada Jacks from @ABC Gifts and Awards :

PolyClay
These chips are made by @SUN-FLY Poker Chips . They are fully printed ceramics (by sublimation) but they have relief elements (the inner ring and the "mold") which are debossed elements. For the "mold", you can have several designs : Cards, Diamonds, Pattern or Lucky Dragon.
@SUN-FLY Poker Chips makes them in 39mm only.

PolyInno a.k.a. hybrids
They are made by @SUN-FLY Poker Chips . They are ceramic with a recessed area where a laminated label is stuck. They come with a lot of different format (ex : 39mm with normal size label, 39mm with big label, 43mm with normal label, 43mm with big label).

Ex : my custom hybrids (all 43mm with normal labels)

I'm selling few samples if you want : https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/sunfly-chips-sample-barrels-from-europe.89649/

Thank you for your reply and for your examples.
Right now i'm trying to make them from scratch, and i'm looking for a mold.

We all wish you luck in your quest to make your own high-quality chips.

It may appear to be simple, but as anyone here can assure you, it is not. Only a handful of companies worldwide make quality chips. Their recipe and processes are trade secrets. There is almost no chance you could stumble onto the right mix of ingredients, pressure, heat, cooling and finishing time to make a passable chip.

Even if you did, you would need a mold. The cost of a small one -- if you can find a manufacturer willing to do it -- would be many thousands of dollars. ($10,000 and up.)

So we gather here to buy, sell and trade existing chips and order new chips from a few companies that will customize them for us in reasonable quantities. A small number of companies will make really nice custom chips for you, using their recipe and equipment and your design ideas, artwork, color choices, etc.

You can also find artists here who can help you design your chips, and veteran players. who can help you build the best size set for your game.

Welcome!

There are undoubtedly loads of companies out there that make poker chips (think ABS/metal slugged "dice chips"), but most of the discussion here revolves around us upgrading out chips away from those and seeking the best chips we can get a hold of without being a casino. So while there are many sources of poker chips, there are only a handful of companies that produce high-quality poker chips, such as those with a good feel, good materials (compression clay, ceramic, or injection molded plastic) and high manufacturing tolerances (good uniformity, no burrs, the right shape to stack and shuffle well and avoid "spinners", etc). And even out of these few options, there are only a couple that produce "casino quality" chips. But these chips are only as good as they are because of enormous investment by the businesses in equipment, R&D, etc.

The point is, if you're looking for good quality custom ceramics, you're in the right place for advice. Like @Kid_Eastwood said, there's @SUN-FLY Poker Chips , @ABC Gifts and Awards , and then the Chinese cards-mold vendors. Another great option if you don't like the look of home-market/off-the-shelf designs would be to buy a set of ChipCo ex-casino chips from the classifieds, these have such an amazing feel and you can't get them new anymore.

On the other hand, if you're here to take on the project of trying to develop your own chips, that sounds amazing. Alot of us here probably have that same dream, so again, you're in the right place. @Grandmasturkey has a thread about his journey trying to make compression-clay chips that you might want to check out. https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/so-it-begins-aka-poker-chip-making-quest.71526/

Thank you for your replys, it's already harder than i imagined it.
I'm attaching an image with two of the poker chips that i made.
I know they are more for the funny page than to post it on this site, but this is my beggining.

Now, i have to figure out and find a mold, no way i'm spending 10k on this thing :)
