Horseshoe Tunica Dealer Theft

Just read this today and makes me a little sick. She is probably the "best" dealer in the house due to her accuracy and speed, which in hindsight makes it much easier for something to not be noticed. I've played a couple thousand hours at the tables the last 5 years and sit at this dealers table weekly. At the 1/3 games it's hard to pocket $25 chips, but at PLO and larger holdem games its harder to notice. Wondering now how much has been stolen from me over the years?

Can't wait to get to the casino this weekend and see what the real story is from some of the other dealers/players I know we'll.

I'm curious about the first comment, pretending to cough to put a 1k chip in his mouth... were you planning to swallow that? Are you cashing a 1k chip in a few days later after retrieving it from your poo?

Reddit can be a strange place at times, but clearly people will do anything to make a buck so there's probably some truth to it sadly... And also, ewwwwwww

It does strike me as odd that a professional would steal from the players like that. I know some people just don't tip, and that sucks, but do they honestly think they won't get caught? I guess if they get away with it the first few times may as well go for broke.
Just baffles me

Pretty sure I said this in another thread, but it always applies. Greedy people are stupid lol.

If it doesn’t digest and kill them
And they can pass that without needing surgery
I’m gonna allow it one time  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Getting a 1k chip lodged in your throat will cost a lot more than 1k of medical expenses! I'm going to guess that the dealer planned to retain it until break.

now this puts a whole new spin on hooker juice..... dealer doo doo ? dealer droppings ?

Was she Cuban?

How does this work? She palmed them and snuck them in to her tip box? How do you not hear the actual tip (assuming there was one) and the stolen tip hit the bottom of the tip box?

Stealing is bad. Stealing from your boss sucks, but its a cost of business. Stealing from customers? That's a whole 'nother level of shittiness.

EDIT: Also, I wonder if she didn't steal from players who tipped her regularly or other players she favored...

I've heard of this theft attempt before. Dealers try and time it so they only have the chip in their mouth for as short as possible before they get tapped out for their break. In the story I know of, surveillance / management got wise to it and just delayed their break by a few minutes. The dealer couldn't handle the extra time and eventually starting paying out like an old slot machine.

Damn, that sucks for the players.

Been a while (pre covid) since I played there but I remember it is a pretty busy room. The opportunity for her to have nicked a small fortune $25 at a time would seem to be possible depending on how diligent their security is/was (sounds like it was not very). No matter how much the amount was unfortunately no casino will ever make any players whole after the fact. Just another black eye for poker right now (live or online). :(

Having worked as a dealer, I can't imagine even attempting this. The sheer number of people watching you openly -- floor supervisors, pit bosses, gaming commission people, players -- plus the unknown number of people following you in surveillance, is enough to keep most dealers honest.

One reason I always grab my chips during bathroom breaks. I have to protect my chips, can't trust strangers about money.

Oh, and I have to sort out and bring back nice chips home.
