I'm curious. I know that poker chips are used to help people forget that they are gambling real money. However, I was thinking about how cool a cash game poker set comprised of polished U.S. (silver) $0.50 and $1 (Gold) coins would look. My friends and I usually play low stakes blinds so using $0.50 coins would work well. Everyone can bring their cash and buy in to receive the coins. I feel like its an easy extra set to put together and could easily get my money back if I don't like it, since the set is real money.

Has anyone played with a set like this and can give advice to if they enjoyed it or not?

Thank you

Creative solution! I haven't done this, but I would guess that coins will be hard to handle - they're slippery and they don't stack well, which could be annoying.

Give it a try one night and report back with your impressions!

Great! You could add to a low stakes set by including quarters and nickles (or even pennies), and if you wanted to increase the bank you could use CDN $2 coins (toonies), although they are only worth about a buck and a half...
