I own no chips yet, but have some nostalgic pull towards the first casino I played at and where I grew up. I want to make sure if I decide to start buying them slowly due to low funds for chips, I can actually find them. Talking about Argosy casino in Indiana. I was a valet there when they retired the chip I'm looking for. Do you guys own these? Anyone? How often do they come up for sale? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Hi, welcome!

I suggest posting a "WANTED" ad in the classifieds section over HERE

In the past short while there have been a few auctions and sales listings for Argosy chips.

Best of luck in your search!
Thanks I'm new so I don't think I can do a wanted add can I? Also just wanted feedback on if that chip comes up enough to make a nice set? Thanks for the reply!

if you refer to the classified groups guidelines which is a sticky thread at the top of that section, it states that you can post in the classifieds once you have 10 posts. you just made 13 so give it a little bit to activate as I believe an admin has to approve the action.

i personally feel that the Argosy chips do come up for sale often enough in the short time I've been a member here. Again, if you can't find posts for them, get that wanted posting up and I'm sure you'll receive offers.

Great I appreciate that

You can also refer to the chipguide http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=INLAAR to see which versions of the chips you'd like, the link is for the Argosy itself. The guide works for tons of casinos and there's a 'search' query as well - if there's a particular mold or colour you are looking for.
Not sure how you got there but that is truly amazing. So by this guide there biggest chip was only $500? Seems low

sorry, the more direct route http://www.chipguide.com/

the map is interactive and will bring up a list of the casino's in that jurisdiction, you can also select other world regions (including 'wet' - ie cruise ship chips)

each list is alphabetized and you can click on any casino and see what chips they used. it's a user generated/contributed project - mostly single chip collectors who browse a different board about chips.

Finding a full set of Argosy's might be very difficult, BUT

If you're set on it, IMMEDIATELY buy the 3 racks of Argosy 5's that are in the Classifieds right now. They are in a good price and the $5's seem to be the hardest to accumulate in a cash set.

Then, build the rest of it slowly. I don't know how big your game is (or is going to be), but there are lots of good casino used $1's out there. Find a few racks of those, and look out for some fracs, and you've got the start of a usable set.

Then, slowly collect the rest of your set as chips become available, and sell off the ones you don't need anymore. If you buy the right chips, they are likely to retain their value so you can sell for what you paid for them (or close to).

OR

Just buy a bunch of chips from me! (y)

I could never afford a full set. Small bite size for me, I probably won't be able to host for a while. Just wanted to make sure it's a doable task, before I started.

I would argue that the $1's in that rack are the hardest to find. I've seen several listings for the fracs, $5's, and $25's in the last few years but cant recall any $1's. Not saying they havent sold lately, just saying there have been more adds for the others recently. I wouldn't say they come up often either, if your seriously hunting those 5's would be critical in starting your hunt

Here is some with a blackjack table for 325 bucks

The 100s are definatley argosy, and I'm pretty sure the 1s are also.

I tried to get them to sell me the chips, but they didnt want to split from that ugly ass table.

You can try and see if they will sell them to you.
