I just want to check then out. I've never seen them in person, much less shuffled them.
What should I look for?
Thanks!

Yikes... Don't like the way this is starting! I'm already way down the rabbit hole. I'm worried I may never come out now!
Mehhhhh

The trouble is finding the chips. I see people spending waaaaaay more on silly chips with circus tents as a theme. Blows my mind!

I managed to put together a small set recently. I didn't get the most popular TRK, but they are mostly in excellent shape or better. I didn't spend as much as you'd think. The hard part was sourcing the chips. I received copious amounts of help from a couple chippers, but it's not too difficult. I guess it all depends on your taste too.

I went for a mixed set. In this fashion, I was able to accept more chips and build a set faster. (I'll post pr0n in coming weeks, as I receive the chips).

Don't fear all these warnings. Fear not being able to find many of them in the condition you might want.

Happy Hunting!!!!

You'll love those. The weight and feel is awesome!!

Avoid the monogrammed chips. You generally see them in white, red, or blue and they are very affordable. One thing people don't often tell you is that the weight sucks. They are generally in the 8.5 gram range and and feel like plastic chips when you shuffle them. Here are weights of monogram versus Kings Crown. Anything in the 9+ gram range feels good to me, and the Kings Crown feel pretty awesome!!

Monogrammed...avoid

Great advice. Thanks!

I wouldn’t agree that you need to avoid the home monogrammed chips per se but they aren’t what everyone talks about when referring to the heavyweight feel of TRKs. They don’t feel crazy light to me anymore, possibly because I’ve gotten used to them? I have a rather large set and am waiting for my label design to be finished.

The solid monogram’s price has tanked once CPC announced the revival of the scrown mold so they can be bought for peanuts these days and are a good way to build a relatively inexpensive set.

Still though, leaded casino TRKs are the nuts

I love those moose chips. They were part of a playable set that some bonehead was selling off in 5-10 chip lots on eBay a few years back. I begged and pleaded with him to sell me the whole set and he wouldn't. Hell, I even offered to pay his BIN price, but for all of them. What a lost opportunity. :banghead:

Hmm, I don’t remember the monograms being light, but I thought they felt great to shuffle.

What the!?!?!?!? Nav!!! Did you not get the note in your set that said not to encourage a new generation of competitors to what is a small set of chips getting smaller by the day due, in part, to a disturbance in the force in Beverly Hills! That's what the bright colors, beaches, boats and tents are for!!! I love the BTP cash set BTW! :)
