I would rather not murder actual casino TRKs given the historical value but what are your thoughts about murdering non-casino chips?

For example, I'm thinking of murdering the following to fit in my mixed TRK set:

I know the Kings Crown are the "fakes" since they don't have the shaped inlay. I plan on turning these into Apes quarters. The Monte Carlo Magic would become $25s based on a Pick Hobson's design. My Nevada Lodge/Club 1s, Money Tree 5s and Pick Hobson's Riverside 100s will be untouched.

So the complete set will look something like this:

And they were Cali $5s. He really flew under the radar with that one lol I do like the Milton prells though

Meanwhile I'm copping it left right and centre :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I'd murder them, but no offense I wouldn't put hotel apes and siv darson on them. I'd stick to the actual Mapes inlay and something else for the $25 that's an actual trk inlay so that it can fit nicely back into another trk set that's missing a denom (not pick Hobson, because the $25 chip already exists)

They are your chips. Whether they are Casino or fantasy chips, do whatever the fuck you want to do. The key is to have fun while your doing it
+++1 this ^^^^

While I've actually only murdered 1.5 chips (way too much work), I think about it all the time. Somebody can always run an intervention and pay you 3 times the value to stop the murder. If they don't, that pretty much makes them an accomplice. :LOL: :laugh:

I’m not really angry, just never used that emoticon before :p

Personally, if my chips aren’t gonna be the real thing, I wouldn’t want them to potentially be mistaken for them. Hence Apes or Darson’s. I don’t care about resale value - if I did, I wouldn’t murder.

I’m pretty sure I’m not going to do a Pick Hobson on the 25. Since I have the hundo, I’ll look for something else to ape :)

Murder experimentation has begun. There is a plastic layer which comes off easily, then there is a paper layer which is an absolute pain but can be removed with soaking and a good scrub. The problem is the glue layer - this is almost impossible to remove manually. I'm guessing that some kind of solvent is required - any ideas as to what I can try that won't damage the chip?

I 'm clueless about TRKs. Did they have to be "murdered" or is/was there a harmless label-over option?
At any rate, do whatever it takes to fulfil you aesthetic dream.:)

There is no inlay recess in the small crown mold so a label-over will literally stick on the top surface of the chip. Murder is the only option!

In which case, living on the border of the old Wild West, you can only implement the "kill 'em all; let God sort 'em out" approach:D

I've always used the cleaner Goo Gone (use the original) to remove glue or sticker residue from things. For a surface as small as a chip inlay, one or two drops should do, let it soak into the glue residue for a couple minutes, and then scrape off the residue with a fingernail or a non-abrasive pad/tool. There might be some color transfer from a chip, but obviously test it out on a single chip first.
