Travelling for Xmas (1 Viewer)

We have been planning this trip since feb of now last year and for the most part went as planned.

The trip came about due to the loss of my mother and the importance of family to me. So I decided to travel to my dads with my wife and kids to dalton ga for Xmas.

About a week before my wife's doctor denied her of joining us on the trip. So I the best interest of her Health she reluctantly told me to go and she would rest without the kids being there.

For the most part the drive down was uneventful We norrowly missed being in an accident in Detroit due to freezing rain were a car hit the gaurd rail and was facing the wrong way on the hwy. we left the farm at 6pm drove straight through to arrive at 8am for a grand total of 1275 km or about 775 ml.

We have had a great time visiting with new family I have not met and old friends I haven't seen in a few years.

Due to living in Canada and shipping being so hi I had a set of chips sent here about three or four months ago plus a set I bought myself for Xmas.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad you weren't hurt driving through freezing rain, as that stuff is evil. I'd much rather drive in a snowstorm than freezing rain.

Oh and I unfortunately forgot to measure how big the box is that Tommy sent the Oak Chip Chest to me in (I saved it because it was perfect for it) so I'll have to see how big it was tonight and then I'll get you that shipping quote.

Well the end of my vacation ended on a pour note.
I got a phone call as I was about to pull out the lane that my wife was in a car accident and was going to the hospital. She is eight months pregnant. That has got to be one of the most helpless feelings I've ever had. To want to do so many things and be so far away.
She was checked out at the hospital and released and has to go back in two days. They say mom and baby are doing fine

Truck will Lilkley be a write off to much structural damage


Our drive home went well had sun untill Dayton Ohio. After Toledo it started to snow a bit but north of Detroit and into ontario was a bit more tricky with as much as 1' of snow in some spots. Just put on some old timey rock and went for a slow ride. We made it home about 2:20 am

So all in all
Every one is home and safe
They make pickup trucks every day

The worst part of the whole trip was having to drive past the Hollywood casino Toledo Ohio twice and not being able to stop. Other wise we had a great time and my to boys were well behaved during the vacation who could ask for more.

So early last week we found out they have decided to declare our truck a total loss and gave us 11000 for it. So it is time to car shop we are looking at used 2009 GMC Acadia and Buick enclaves if anyone has any info or opinion on these SUVs I'm always open to suggestion
