Newbie here. Was wondering if anyone can identify these? Any idea what they might be worth, per chip?

Not those exact chips, but the uniformity of the spots on the rolling edge and the beveled corners makes me think you have the general type and price range correct. That's a good looking set that I haven't seen before.

Fair enough. Saw them ad on Craig's list. (Link below) Still good value at 15¢ a chip, but considering he's in LA and I am....not, I'm not going to bother with the shipping, etc up north. (Plus my 650 Laurel Crown's arrived today, so I'm not desperate, haha). He's selling 1075 of these for $150, and $25 extra for a 1000 chip acrylic case. Could do worse if you're looking to put together a nice tourney set on the cheap, although I guess apache's prices are the same and you can pick your poison. I never spoke with him, so they may not even be for sale any more, but here's the link. Thanks for the info, lads.

They're definitely "official casino weight**" at 13.5g.........but I don't think they're Paulsons..... :p

**Sarcasm tag needed....

Hey, come on, that's no way to welcome a new poster! You were all new, once.

Kerry, welcome to the wonderful world of poker chips. As has been (somewhat rudely) pointed out, those are unfortunately not Paulson chips, although they are probably designed to evoke the Paulson molds and edgespots.

Yeah, I was new once..... and I did a lot of reading, listening, and asking questions, but not posting hilarious untrue statements like I was an expert.

Probably meant basic poker chips.

I have purchased samples of these. They are far better than the ones Apache is selling as the poker knights/monaco casino line. Yes they are slugged plastic. They are not China clay material but are VERY good chips for the money. I'm actually using these now for a cheap custom project. They actually kinda remind me of TRK's shallow edge spots. The mold is nicer and similar to CPC's fleur des Lis mold. It's sister set known as lucky horseshoe is a very dull mold very similar to the Paulson chip mold.
As Nomad pointed out they are available by the roll from Discount Poker but can be purchased everywhere in a p redone set anywhere from Walmart.com to Amazon.com....even Staples has these?!?!

Pretty harsh posts earlier too...kinda reminded me of the chip-snobbery of Chiptalk.

Pretty nice looking for slugged chips. If I showed up at a friend's house for poker and they busted them out, I'd be pretty pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the review. They actually do look pretty cool. I havent pulled the trigger yet on a "leave in the car set" but these might just work the best.

And your mention of Chiptalk's snobbery reminded me of why I left there in the first place...not that I want to get into that here.

Yes bad form people.

I still have that watch for sale though.

Those are by far some of the best looking slugged chips I've ever seen. Nice looking mold, nice simple LABEL (looking at you BG), pretty darn cool edgespots too.

I won't get into the "laughing at the new guy" thing, but PCF is our chance to take all the good things about CT and bring them here while leaving all the bad back there.

I resurrected this previously on the blue wall........see date and OP at bottom.

I have a couple of (OK, 5) burning questions, having just started this....well, I was going to call it a hobby, but methinks my wallet will call it something else. Let's go "investment"....

These are idly curious question - I like to know a little bit about everything when I start a hobby, so without further adieu:

1. What happened to the President New Yorker Casino? I've done some Google searches and I can't find alot of definitive info about it. I'm considering adding a set of PNY's shortly after I finish my Aztar set but I'd like to learn more about what happened to the actual casino first.

2. How does it work when a casino decides to decommision their chips? Do they have to destroy them, or is a gaming commission decision vs the casino's decision? Foxwoods recently changed over their $1 chips, and man would I have loved to get my hands on a couple of racks of the old ones. Just curious what the process is - for some reason I find this fascinating.

3. Is there a place somewhere where you can see the Paulson chips getting made, like a factory tour?

4. What's a "spinner"? I stupidly feel like I should know this, but I don't.

5. Does anybody here just collect sets, or does everyone play them? I have a set of Dunes Commems (the injection molded ones) and I use it at most of the games I play, just not sure if I'd want to break out a new set of casino clays (live or retired). Is this a common dilemna or am I just strange?

Actually, forget the last part of the last question - just let me know if it's a common dilemna.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to what everyone thinks and hoping that I don't catch heat for the multiple questions in the single post
