Tough one: whether to write to friend from years ago in prison for awful crime (1 Viewer)

Letter is pretty standard. Just chatting a bit honestly. Gonna write him back and send him some record reviews he asked for.

FWIW my wife was unreservedly in favor of my writing him and was psyched to see a response.

Re: his request for some specific record reviews, despite his letter coming from a literal prison, the saddest part was that his lack of internet access means he doesn't know how bad Pitchfork has gone downhill in the last 3 and a half years.

Something moved you to write the letter. Trust your intuition and send the letter. Good things will likely come to pass as the result of your willingness to serve a broken friend from your past. You are a smart guy and will intuitively recognize what to do next based on your old friends response (or lack thereof) to your letter. My two cents.
