Hi all

Need a solution to organize and manage your group-buys with complete peace of mind?

Today, I present to you the GBM (Group Buy Manager) tool!

Where does GBM come from?

Last year, when I organized my first group sale, I created a small database with a web interface to be able to manage orders.
This year, I improved it and I added features like printing packing slips or preparing texts ready to be copy&paste directly on the forum.
Of course I wondered if that would interest some of you too. Organizing and managing a group buy is sometimes complex and it is better to use all the tools you can find, right?
So I created a simplified version of my database to allow you to manage your own group buys and I am now in the testing phase.

What does GBM do?

Database:
  • Management of your contacts (based on the username of the forum and usable for several group buys but only by you)
  • Management of one or more group buys (title, start date, commitment date, end dates, link, currency ...)
  • Management of items in each group buys (name, short name, description, image, price, object category ...)
  • Order management (with shipping costs and status "paid", "sent", etc ...)
  • Order content management (with quantities and comments)
Dashboards
  • Order dashboard with a global vision for all orders and their status.
  • Exports to copy&paste the group buy presentation texts and items (with images and details)
  • For each order: ready-to-send MP containing the details of the order and the amounts to be paid.
  • For each order: a ready-to-print packing slip containing the contact address and the content of the order (without details of amounts)
Data privacy & Security

The final website will have https secure hosting.
Users will have a login / password each and will only be able to access their own data (group buys, items and contacts).
As the main administrator, I would have access to all data (except your password if you decide to change it) and I agree not to disclose this data in any way whatsoever to a third party.

How much does it cost to use GBM?

It is still under study ...
I have spent time developing the web application and I will certainly spend a lot of time maintaining and improving it.
On the one hand, I think that all work deserves wages. On the other hand, I don't see myself asking you the price of a license.
So I imagined a proportional solution. Suppose you increase the price of each item in the group buy by a fraction and that fraction is returned to me. What do you think ?

And now ?

For the moment I am only in the development and testing phase. But as you can see in the following post, I have already made good progress and this version 0.2 contains everything I had originally planned.

I don't have an official launch date yet. I will probably open the tool now to some who would like to test it.

I am open to any suggestion to improve the GBM and add functionalities.

Here are some screenshot of the 0.2 version. There will be a lot of changes in the final version, the dashboard will look more like the database part and will be cleaner ;)

For the needs of development and demonstration, I chose to use a group buy in progress, that of the accessories of the "Casino of Isthmus City" organized by @FordPickup92 : https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/nagbgb-cdi-dealer-buttons-and-lammers-taking-orders.57314/

More GB’s happen when things get easier.....

Great work! Even a small event like reshipping the contents of an overseas package can be an organization mess, something like this just makes it easier for everyone.

What about a global GB tracker lite, that mainly lists the group buys, status, and contact info for organizers, but at a high level for participants to use instead of just organizers. Help users see what’s out there that they might be interested in instead of scrolling through pages of what might or might not be active, or comments on GB’s that happened long ago.
Or would all this info be available to anyone in the group buy as is?

That's a functionnality that I'm adding to the next version. When creating an order, it's possible to choose a reshipping option.

Great idea ! For the public group-buys (if organisers are ok), I can make a global display with a timeline and all the group buys opened.
Thanks, I'll definitly implement that, it will be a awesome homepage for the application :)

Ok, I've finished version 1 !

Now all the Dashboard & Export tools are under the same visual interface as the main database management, it's much more clear and easy to use...

Anyone wants to test ? Send me a PM !
