I don't blame you. I found a double set like that around the corner from the house. Sleet was out that morning but I still managed to get it home
 
On a double pedistal?
On that size double pedestal? Yeah. There is less than 4 feet between the centers of those two pedestals, and looks like it might only be 3. How far apart are people putting the fold out legs on portable 8 foot tables? I doubt it's 3.5 feet. I had a free pedestal like this, and passed it along. Didn't seem large enough for me. I could be wrong.
 
We use them al, the time on real wood tables. A 68" round table will have one pedistal. Add a second leaf and it will have a double pedistal. He has around 44" on the feet. If he has the know how he can take the center rail out and extend it to any length. If not he can add additional support to the length on top to cover any structural weight..
