I'm getting annoyed just browsing through threads and seeing an inordinate amount of "thread crapping." For the new or uninitiated members, essentially this is the act of posting negative comments in another person's thread, particularly in For Sale ads. Clearly the prices of chips have gone up considerably during the pandemic, but so have the prices of gasoline, homes, cars, and everything else. We have seen a boom in membership here, but yet some people are criticizing and condescending them.

The thread crapping in for sale ads is going unabated, but what really kills me is that a lot these comments are from long time members who should know better but just can't help themselves. I know the mods have stepped back a lot recently which is probably a good thing, but I think there should be a zero tolerance policy for this. If you think someone is blatantly ripping someone off, that's another story, but there are some who make comments like "I never liked those chips."

Personally, I feel the place is the same in this regard as it ever was, for my part anyways. I've been on for 2+ years.

The new members joining has increased exponentially, since I came on. 4900 members when I joined. That was since 2013. So in 6 years, 4900 peeps. Then inside of 2 years, we are near 8000. (Now we are 8000+).

I'd say more people means more crap. Just human nature. We all do crappy things here and there.

He mentioned that it was previous existing members, I think this post is just a good reminder. Some people do it, others don’t, and this is a good reminder you shouldn’t.

I accidentally thread crapped the other day. Trust me, there is a reporting and enforcement mechanism.
Yep, this.

I'm probably guiltier than most of side conversations, memes, etc. in a lot of threads on this forum, but I don't do it in sales threads and I haven't noticed a lot of other people doing it. I think most of us understand that derailing someone else's sale thread crosses a line.

I'm a big fan of either reaching out to the member or reporting the posts when it happens.

I feel like there isn't that much thread crapping going on.

I know I could hardly control myself not to comment when I saw sales threads for live flamingos "fresh from the cage" for $300/rack.

I mean come on, you went to the cage, they gave you a rack and you want $200 for your troubles?

I'm really glad I'm good on flamingos for now (I paid on average $180 / rack) but I feel sorry for other fresh chippers who might get discouraged by those prices to start their own sets with live $1s.

Those flamingo prices went nuts for 72 hours it seemed like

I don’t understand the love for the flamingos either, I mean, the spotted birds are cool but now they are just solids with a plain inlay.
Random thought (might be thread crapping, appology in advance) :

Seeing how many are in "pcf" hands / getting harvested, i guess the casino only has like 3 of them left...

Don't make me annoy everybody with pics from my flamingo set again, because I will do it! ;)
That color with the classic inlay is timeless beauty.

There are different kinds of thread crapping. Correcting or commenting on the description, characterization, authenticity, or condition of chips for sale can be important and productive. General chatter or discussion about the chips for sale without intention to buy can be viewed as thread crapping. But I feel like in a community like this, as long as it isn’t unnecessarily negative it is fair game. It also bumps the thread for the OP too. Completely off topic or inside posts can be a distraction though.

The ratio of new members that are annoying and weird v friendly and normal seems to have grown exponentially as well lol
