Worth noting, the HSI 25’s yellow and brown looks a little close to the Jack s100’s off white and black. Less of an issue when in a pile together (don’t worry, I was gentle!), but looks a bit similar when stacked
Yeah - I agree. When they are stacked it does look very similarWorth noting, the HSI 25’s yellow and brown looks a little close to the Jack s100’s off white and black. Less of an issue when in a pile together (don’t worry, I was gentle!), but looks a bit similar when stacked View attachment 666868

Close, but its not going to cause a dirty stack scenario. I personally like spot color sharing. It lends cohesion between chips instead of just having completely random mixtures.Worth noting, the HSI 25’s yellow and brown looks a little close to the Jack s100’s off white and black. Happy to finally be able to contribute back to the discussion (and share chip pics!). Have been on the receiving end of soooo much help around here.

I tend to agree - the $25 is my least favorites HSI as well. I do like the HSI $1A though. I’m going to continue messing around with it - it’ll be my “work in progress”.I have a HSI set, where I use the Blue/White/Grey HSC 1's in place of the any of the HSI 1's...and I always thought the HSI 25's were the ugliest chip in the bunch. I'd take the secondaries 10 times out of 10, but like you said they're much harder to get a hold of. If you're relabeling anyway, I'd definitely lean towards going with something else.

part of the fun for me is messing around with something until I get it where I like it - lol.
That’s actually not a bad idea...Interesting thread. Can I ask what your useage will be for this set? I assume since you are including a $500 chip that it is a tournament set? If so would you be using a $1? I was wondering why you go all the way from $1 to $500. I was thinking that if I was making a Jack Cincinnati tournament set I would use HSI $1 secondary 1a chips with Jack $500 labels, since the 1a are so cheap.

If you move away from the 25s, let me know! The $25 chips are also potentially on the chopping block....
Love the pink! At this rate, dibs on the $100s when you decide to get rid of those too!I recently decided to get rid of my HSI $1000 chips as I don’t like having 43mm in my set. So I looked around and after getting some ideas from other members, decided that my new $1000 chip can be any color I want! So I went with hot pink. I love it. I don’t care about edge spot progressions or any of that stuff; I’m not going to get rid of the set, so who cares? Just got to order some labels from gear. But I started thinking about the $1 chips, and I really don’t like either the primary or secondary. So now I’m thinking about driving over to vegas and harvesting some blue $1 from either circus circus, Paris, etc, and relabeling those. Sure, it may end up being a mix of RHC and THC, but if I like them, so what? I think it’s pretty hard to find a complete set where you love every single chip in the set. The $25 chips are also potentially on the chopping block....
Also, post a sample set pic I’d you have the labels already! Would love to seeI recently decided to get rid of my HSI $1000 chips as I don’t like having 43mm in my set. I actually like the $100, along with the $5 and absolutely love the $500. Just not wild about the $25, and dislike the $1Love the pink! At this rate, dibs on the $100s when you decide to get rid of those too!
I will once I get the labels for the pinksAlso, post a sample set pic I’d you have the labels already! Would love to see
I did. While better than the primary chip, I’m really leaning towards going with a blue chip I like the contrast, and the edge spots on the $5 and $100 and my soon to be $1,000 - all have blue in them. So I might want to get a $25 chip that has blue in its edge spots as wellI really like the pink’s as well - great looking chip. I agree on the $25’s - my least favorite for sure - lol.
Have you considered the HSI 1A’s. They are actually a pretty sharp looking chip live.
This is exactly my opinion on the HSI set as well. Maybe for different reasons, but the $25 is just sort of ok & all of the $1's have that weird inlay size that I just can't like no matter what the rest of the chip is like so that ruins all the different $1's in my opinion.I actually like the $100, along with the $5 and absolutely love the $500. It goes back to my comment that it just seems like any set always has a couple of undesirables mixed in with some fantastic ones. This is exactly my opinion on the HSI set as well. This is exactly why I think that the best of all worlds is to combine different denominations from different sets, murder them all and have a custom inlay/label made. This way you get almost everything: Good Price, Paulson THC or RHC, Great options for Colors and insert/ insert Patterns & your own custom inlay/label which, imho, is sooooo much better than from some random Casino that no one has ever heard of in IN, OH, MS etcIt goes back to my comment that it just seems like any set always has a couple of undesirables mixed in with some fantastic ones.
I would agree with over-labeling the Jack $100 & $500’s if you like the Jack Hondo’s. I think the Jack $500’s are cool - I almost kept them - lol.Resurrecting this thread to see what you decided to go with and if you’ve ordered/applied labels yet. Would love to see some pics if you have.
I’m in a similar position as you. Ideal scenario would be to build out the top-end of my set with HSI primaries, but given that I’ll likely never even put them into play, it’s hard to justify spending so much on them when I can just murder or over-label the Jack $100s and $500s for a fraction of the price.
