Another day, another custom set to share, and I saved the best for last! Proudly presenting the Thirsty Thursday Card Club, a BCC set I commissioned in fall 2009 with inlay designs from the one and only @Johnny5. Artwork was modeled after some cooler cups and t-shirts we had made at varying points through the years, along with a few choice sayings that stood the test of time.
So, what’s the deal? Thirsty Thursday was an institution among my collegiate friend group (the $5 should be a dead giveaway as to which university we attended), a weekly tradition begun in 2002 by the eldest members and carried on even after the last of the younger generation graduated in 2010. Put simply, it was a time to drink, relax, and try to forget about all the typical college BS you might be dealing with, be it relationship drama, a big project coming due, or anything in between. Most nights consisted of a variety of drinking games, Wii sports (often combined with the drinking games), a ton of laughter, and general debauchery. Our exploits eventually became somewhat legendary in the small town we were from, owing in large part to an incident in which my cousin somehow managed to get himself duct taped naked to a tree in our apartment complex. Oh, to be young and stupid again! Of course as we got older and real life took over, Thirsty Thursday was relegated to the past, but those memories (hazy as they may be) will never die, and this chip set is a testament to that.
Each of the five “true OG” Thirsty Thursdayers received identical 600 chip sets, broken down as follows:
200 - $.25 - Light Pink 314 Lavender
300 - $1 - Horizon Blue 4d18 Sky Blue, Dark Blue
80 - $5 - Canary Yellow 3t18 Black, White, Black
20 - $25 - Laker Purple 4t18 TR King Lavender, Laker Purple, Sherbert Green
I begged Mike Endy for 8V on the $25s, but alas, it was not to be. I ended up getting 3,300 chips total with all extras accounted for. Pr0nage inbound!
