Here is the latest mock-up I have from Steve (p5woody) for a 400 piece CPC set I want to split into two sets: one for my brother and one for me. It's pretty obvious where the inspiration comes from. any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Great mock up. Simple red and white spots is one of my favourite combos. But the 100 is bugging me a bit. Just don't think the spot colors are working on it IMO.

To me charcoal chips look great with brighter colored spots, maybe light green, dg yellow and retro red?

Either way id think about changing the red spot to retro red or mandarin red. They are brighter shades and will pop more.

I've come up with a few different options for the T100. I think I like the second one best, but I'd like to hear what others have to say.

All four look great. I like the last one best, but second one is very close. This will be a stunning set.

tapatalking ...

Love the $5;
the $500 is fun;
I think it works but the $25 doesn't speak to me for some reason - I think it's the DG peach;
not feeling the $100 in either the charcoal or the black because the edge spot color combo doesn't do it for me - but if you are definitely doing those edge spots then the black looks much sharper.

Good luck!

a couple suggestions:

(1) try to put the all the text - name and denom - in a larger, bolder font. it looks very elegant, but will be about 500 times easier to read if either everything is enlarged or the font is emboldened, preferably both. i love the condado beach chips these are modeled after, but the text and denom here appears narrower than that of the condado beach chips which are already very close to the line in terms of size and readability imo.

(2) i would use a shaped inlay for the $500. if you're only really a fan of those depicted, i would shift the round inlay to the $5 chip.

I want to use a shaped inlay for the $500, but I'm really stuck on the hub inlay for the $5. I really wish CPC offered a hexagon-shaped inlay.

$5 & $500 are perfect.

Charcoal $100 base w/teal edge spot is throwing me. I definitely like the purple edge spot better than the teal on the hundo - aka #4. Would be interested in seeing the edge spots on #4 against a charcoal base just for comparison purposes.

Denom fonts/colors seem good to me, but...

Thought: What about color-matching the denom / spade tree to the base color?

I really like where the inspiration comes from and I think the set will turn out great James!!!

I second both of jbutler's comments below:

In addition to those above, and that's just my personal aesthetics bias, I believe you might have a bit too much 'peachy' on your three higher denom chips... DG Peach on your $25, Arc Yellow on the $100 and $500... I like those colors as much as the next guy but you could try and replace the ARC Yellow either on your $100 or $500 to see if you like it better... I also would lean more towards using only two color spots for your hundos 3T316s, just like in the originals... I like Charcoal better than Black (slightly) so I'l try to see which color combos would go well there and in relation to the other chips...

But again, It will be a great set, no doubt!

* One more thought, are you okay with having your logo and 'The Palo Verde Lounge and Cardroom' in blue font? Maybe you could try a 'verde' that's close to the original blue of your inspiration set...

I'm all for color-matching, but I think that sometimes it can be overused and muddle the design. For this particular set I'm looking for 'simple as possible'. I'm pretty plain Jane when it comes to a lot of things, and I love the original chips and how blue logos and fonts were used and then red denoms. I'm a real sucker for a red denomination.

MoscowRadio,
You did a mighty fine job on this, the hundo looks way better in black the logo is nice and elegant..

^^^I agree 100%. Looks pissah!!

I like the original and this mock up. There is another version of the hundred chip in the original set, I think it was grey with day blue spots.

the text looks good, but the denom is still off imo. check out the original $500 and compare the denom with the $500 above:

the denoms in the mock-up are a bit scrunched up.

I like number four the best, closely followed by number two. I have an affinity for when a spot color suggests the base of the next chip up, so I like the purple in there, but the red in number four is also different, and I like the stronger contrast.

Set's looking really good, by the way. Really good.

Very nice end result. The black is a great choice over the charcoal IMO.

One other thing :) have you thought about having "Dealer" in red to match the inlays of the chips? Looks great as is still.

I did. I even had Steve mock one up for me, but I just didn't like it as much as the blue text.

These look really good. In for a sample.

Sadly, I thought the inlay was a homage to President Casino Admiral... I suck I know. Similar, but clearly based on Condado Beach.

Final mock-ups look great, although I'd throw a tri-moon inlay on that $500 chip. That way, your round-inlay $1 add-on won't look out of place later. :)

In for samples, if you're offering.

Frak yeh. Sample sets :). Awesome, classy looking chipes.
