The League of Extraordinary Degenerates (LXD) starts its 10th season in 30 days! We are a league that sends folks to the WSOP every summer. We are located in SE Wisconsin. In those 10 years we have awarded nearly 75 WSOP Seat winners. In those 10 years we have gone from a single table every game to now projecting 7 tables for our “Housewarming” Event on September 10th. We used to host at varying locations (usually our apartments), then we shifted to the same location for 8 of those years until this season. We are using our local Moose Lodge where we can fit many more tables and accommodate more tables.

Our main goal is to give someone an experience of playing the WSOP where they might not otherwise play. We try to make dreams happen and give the experience of a poker lifetime. In the 10 years we have all come together and become close friends, attending each others weddings, welcoming new additions into lives, consoling when we lose someone close, cheering our crew on at the WSOP when they are on a day 2 and nearing the money. The league has become a way for us to all get together every month or so and battle on the felt for dreams of WSOP glory.

We play 10 times between September and April receiving points along the way. Only your best 6 scores count to your final score. Players also receive a kickback from the winning from the WSOP based on league play. If someone doesn’t win a seat via points there is a single seat up from grabs at the season ending freeroll.

Post covid we started a Poker Mavens site and also run a 15 game series online every other week on Sunday nights. We will be doing a Mixed game series for a $1500 WSOP mix tournament. Then we cap it all off by a “2nd Chance Shootout” where the nightly winners combine in April and battle for 3-4 seats in that series as well. This means there is 3 separate online WSOP Series and 1 Live Series.

Im going to try and keep this thread going this season with updates on how things are going along with the WSOP Trip.

25% of buy ins go to WSOP seats. 75% is for nightly payouts.

Our current RSVP list for the first live event is at 57 players 20 days out.

Only days away from our first HUGE weekend, we now have over 70 names on a list. This is becoming larger than we’d ever expected. Definitely a snowball effect has happened. I suspect many of the names on this list will flake out last minute. It’s part of the game. Usually 10-15% of the people who say they’ll show just don’t.

I have a crew of 7 managing this tournament with each of us having our own job. Fingers crossed we can show everyone a good time and have a great experience and they’ll come back again.

We are having our last organizational zoom meeting tonight and setting up Friday. I’ll post some pictures of our setup and layout of the room.

Today is our big day! We have 7 tables ready to go and possible 8th!

We are expecting 60-70 players! Our biggest event to date!

Event 1: $80 NLHE “Housewarming” starts at 4:30. The bar is stocked with Crown Apple which means we are ready to go!

Event 1 without many hitches at all. It was a success beyond our expectations. In our live series we have 75 unique entrants (56 rebuys & 67 addons). First place up top was $1,880. Timing on everything was perfect. Ending slightly past midnight. Our bartender Christine thanked me for choosing her as our bartender. I imagine she walked out with nearly $500 herself! Nothing but great feedback from all the new players. To say nothing draws a crowd like a crowd is true. We have locked up 2 WSOP seats already for the live series.

The online series kickoff event on Sunday garnered 87 entries and reentries. Our mixed series game (Stud 8b) got 21 unique players! Who knew people wanted to play mixed? Yours truly was runner up in the stud 8 (humble brag).

I will be MIA for our next live tournament on October 1st due to a family wedding.

Next WSOP Series Event is Online in our ‘BIG 50’ tournament on September 25th.

Our 2nd event of the season went off last weekend with a typical downturn of attendance we expect. The 2nd event had “only“ 51 runners for 6max. The consensus was that many new or beginner players don’t understand what the term 6max or 6 handed even means. The short handed game is always on our schedule but we think we’ll need to shift it to a later date in schedule. Many of our regulars were out of town (myself included) which contributed to the downturn of players.

We already now have 4 total seats locked up for the WSOP in the summer via our live and online games (And its only October!)

The next few events we have going is our HUGE Live Event 3: $100 NLHE Monster Stack $7,500 GTD. We are hoping to push the attendance of Event 1 of 75 for this one. More chips = more fun! Our online games continue with a $10 Rebuy Madness, $60 Big Bet Mix (NLHE, PLO, BIGO, BIG EASY) and $80 NLHE Monster Stack.

Cant wait til I get the table inlays from @rjdev7 then I can get a few more Barrington tables and we’ll be all set!
