As with most people during the pandemic (especially those trapped in apartments within cities), I've been spending a lot of time at home this last year. The more time I've spent walking around this ever so spacious 800 sq ft. the stronger the desire I had to upgrade my stuff (and throw myself out the window). First it was my media server setup, then furniture, then audio equipment...then this last Saturday afternoon I fell head first into this world of poker chips I had no idea existed until now.
I was an avid Hold'em player in college, back in the online heyday. Would drive up to casinos a few times a semester. Played cash games with friends whenever we could get a group together. The career got busy, life got in the way, and my opportunities to play fell to the way side. The trips to Vegas changed from annually to every other year. The cash games happened no more than a handful of times a year. Then the pandemic happened and everything stopped altogether.
I've always loved shuffling chips. Yet the cheap poker briefcase sets bought off Amazon that we were using amongst friends had always left a lot to be desired. I long for a stack of legitimate casino chips in my hand...which led to a Google search and several hours later I've gone through all the popular sites and came across this forum. Figured if I was serious about getting the real casino chips I've wanted, there was no better place to look for them than here. It was time to set up an account.
I'm prepping my order of samples from Apache. Unfortunately, as much as I want that set of Harrah's Paulsons, it's not quite perfect enough for me to justify the price. I've never held China clays before, but I'm hopeful from what I read and am definitely adding Dunes to the list. I never even knew coin inlay chips like the Condado plazas existed, and they are just way too cool.
For such a big part of my life that poker was, this very important side of the game has been neglected by me for way too long. That ends now...here starts the beginning of the journey towards the perfect set.
