2020 seems to be filling up, so I thought I better get this one on the calendar!

Me and Elizabeth have been having a tremendous amount of fun attending the PCF meetups, and we'd like to give back a little by hosting one here in New Mexico next year. Its not the easiest place to get to, but any drive you take is scenic and it really is nice here in this part of the state.

I don't have all the details yet, since this is a first, but it will follow the usual format of games starting as early as Wed, going through Sunday, and side trips, hikes, gun shoots, ghost towns, all that New Mexico stuff you see on TV is available before during and after for any interested!
Most likely we will have a horseshoe tournament as well, those are my pits in the right corner of that last picture.

It's incredible the welcome and fun we have had at other meetups, so we'd like to keep this open to any PCF member in good standing who wants to attend. Everyone needs to start somewhere so if this is your first get off the fence and come on down!

Date: October 22nd-25th 2020

Where: Angel Fire, New Mexico - the far northeast corner of New Mexico, about 30 miles from Taos.

How to get here: You may want to start looking, nearest airports are Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Colorado Springs, or Denver. Amarillo is also on the list but its a hair further. If you have your own jet you can land here in Angel Fire, we have one of the highest runways you can land a commercial jet on in the US. As we get closer and flights leveled out we can arrange for shuttling people to and from the airport if you don't want to rent a car, or sharing cars till you get here. Getting a suburban or tow here is not a problem.

Lodging: I've got some room at my house, a bedroom with a queen, a bedroom with two fulls, a twin in the loft, and two air mattresses for the loft if needed. We also have one of the largest property managers in the area (150 properties) in our poker group, so we should be able to find some good 5-7 bedroom houses is needed at a reasonable rate maybe.

Local Attractions you may want to see (after coming this far)
Ojo Caliente Hot Springs
Rafting the Rio Grande
Hiking all over the place
Rio Grange Gorge Bridge and the Earthships
Taos
Santa Fe
The town of Red River
Fly fishing in the Cimmaron
NRA Wittington Center - gun heaven. I'm not kidding it's unreal. Bring your artillery and rent a cabin on the ranges.
Hikes to places unknown to the public
And here in our valley we have Eagle Nest Lake and a couple small private lakes we can use.

I'll update more with pictures and any missing info as I get it developed over the next week or so!

Hmmm -- only 35 miles or so from Miami -- piece of cake! Bring your bathing suits and lots of sunblock...

The last time we went to Taos, we were snowed in for five days (but the food was great). And then I made the mistake of taking an underequipped rental car through Los Alamos and Valles Cardera to San Ysidro, on the way back to AlpoTurkey. Don't remember what month it was, but we seemed in danger of being accosted and eaten by marauding hordes of elk. I'm hoping it was later than October.

Gorgeous country out there, though...have to see if my wife wants a Colorado trip next fall. She's on the way home from Denver right now, so I might catch her in a good mood for an adventure.

I won’t know for sure until I can schedule my vacations late this year. Would love to make it out if I can @ekricket.
I love the southwest and have never been to Taos or the surrounding area. It’s on my list of must places to visit. I Spent a few days in Durango once and visited Mesa Verde NP but that’s as close to Angel Fire as I’ve ever been.
If I can make it happen, I’ll be there. :)

More info on the airports:

Albuquerque is the most common place to fly into. It’s about a 3 hour drive, but most of the drive has panoramic views.
Santa Fe - even closer, served by United and American. Sometimes just a few dollars more over Albuquerque, but sometimes alot more.
Colorado Springs- about the same distance as Albuquerque.
Denver - 5 to 6 hour drive. So... the savings in plane tickets may not be worth it if you end up renting a car.

Put moose and. Mrs moose on the list with lodging if possible. Hopefully we can make this work out. New Mexico is one state we have never visited.

Google flights won't search that far out but for the same dates this year from Toronto it is only 6h travel time and about $330. Seems like a no brainer.

Oh, please. You have no idea where you'll be next year. You could be on Mars, the way your travel schedule jumps around! :cool

(Color me jealous...) :confused

Been doing some checking on BnB’s, the property manager I know said he has some 5-6 bedrooms that would be about $350 a night, so about $50 a night for a bedroom. Once we get specific properties I’ll try to bring him down more.

Are there any golfers in this? We have a good course and one of the potential houses overlooks the 5 and 6 holes. The thin air here let’s the ball travel further.

Depending on weather, could possibly get in a round. :)

It should be good, course usually open till mid Nov. but early snows could close it early. Can’t golf at 8500 feet often!
Might even try to get out a couple days early to do some things like that. Maybe not a bad idea for adjusting to the altitude either.
I’ve spent lots of time in Moab which is right around 4000 ft above. Lots of daily hiking up to about 7500ft but I’ve never been at 8500 more than a few hours at best.
Hope I don’t fall asleep at the table and you guys take all my $. :ROFLMAO:
