THC vs. RHC (1 Viewer)

Do you have any pricing examples on what the difference would be for chips using he same spot pattern in RHC vs. THC?

Nope, and nobody I know does. But extrapolating from available data, I'd guess at least about a 20c/chip difference. PM sent.

Not at all! It is great (and entertaining) to see how peoples opinions differ. My post is a little over the top, but I just think it's funny that some chip collectors absolutely dismiss a chip because it’s mold especially when the only difference is a circle in the outside of the chip and maybe the inlay?

I’d be surprised if most people could accurately separate a barrel of chips quickly and accurately. If you can, great... be careful with China Clays though, your fingers may never recover.

I see nice chips and I want them. I won’t dismiss a set because it’s RHC or THC, only if I don’t like the design.

I, too, used to dislike RHCs... Until I bought minty Jacks. But when I go back to my THC solids, it’s like a homecoming.

THC is better in all ways. RHC are about the same quality as metal inserts. I don’t know if any of that is true, but this is what I’ve gathered from reading this forum.

It's about diversity and inclusion, folks. Everybody should have equal opportunity to have a set of each. And even sets of (gasp!) ceramics and plastics!

A flaw (still unimportant to sane people out there) of using mint/near mint RHCs AND casino-used RHC chips in the same set (however nicely cleaned and oiled the latter are); in that specific case, however, the casino-used ones were visually irreplaceable:

A lot of people don't realize the difference between RHC and THC. Here is a visual comparison that will help people.

Notice how the THC chip on the left has an outer ring past the hats? That is the main difference other than the hats and canes look better on THC. On the RHC chip on the right the hats are right up against the edge which causes chips/flea bites and wears the chip down faster.
