Way back in July at the outset of an injury I started to dabble in wide-format printing and custom labels. I ordered some very expensive vinyl for some plaques but never used it for its intended use. Unable to justify not using it I decided to use my last name, Silver for a new inexpensive set of tourney chips for bigger tourneys where peeps don't care what they're using.

The vinyl is actually layered. A printable clear layer is laid over the prismatic vinyl. These are the edited, broadened mock-ups and a prototype of the finished product.

It's important to note that the clear vinyl obviously won't have any printed white. So any white in the image will print clear allowing the prismatic vinyl to show through. The clear vinyl containing the black circle actually goes the full size of the label. So it's not just a black circle stuck onto the lower vinyl.

Nice effect! I've like prismatic rings ever since seeing them on the Borgata's chips (a Bud Jones chip.)

I like the ring, the Silver Club text, and even the touch of prismatic coming through the gradiated denom font. (Is that what I'm seeing? Is the red a little non-opaque, and is the top showing more silver?)

But I'm not so much a fan of it in club. I feel like limiting the amount of shiny keeps it classier-looking, and that brings a little too much onto the label.

But....it's a silver club..... like the name says.

I get what you're saying, but it seems fitting for this particular application.

Sadly I can't. I have often wondered how to go about doing that though. Pretty much the most common application for what your asking would be shampoo bottle stickers. I'm going to look into what and how they do it but I'm betting it's costly.

Yeah. It was the effect I was going on. Kind if a double play on words. Nomad is 100% right though and I knew it as soon as I printed and put them together. I am wondering if I just use standard chrome vinyl if it wouldn't be way better. I have already redrawn a new label using a black club with a white stroke and yellow/orange lighting effects.

Thanks again for the input gents!

I get the play on words, but want it to look good.

I suspect doing the club completely clear (prismatic) would look better than the filligree, which just makes it look "dirty" to me... but I think the best would come from a club that's solid inside, with a strong prismatic outline.

Oooo... went looking for more open-looking clubs, and found some interesting patterns online -

Reworked. Reprinted. Needs some fixes but a definite improvement minus the air bubbles. Didn't use the press laminator today..

Edited: Lady Luck is now 15% bigger.
"The" font changed to a cleaner script
gradient removed from denomination.
stroke around denomination reduced

The reworked ones are a ton better. I liked/hated the chips in the OP. The most recent ones are damn near fucking spectaculer. For sale? ")

Really? Sure. I will have to work out pricing. It may be pricey because the flashy vinyl is so flipping expensive. Give me an idea on numbers and I will get back to you. You should know I'm also thinking about using a prismatic vinyl called confetti and is very similar to the borgata style reflective dots. I may also just use chrome vinyl for the smaller denominations...I will make up examples of each.

My first post here. This thread seemed appropriate to start....cause holy smokes you did a bang up job! Very impressed!

as a fan of bud jones chips, i dig the metallic flashing. where did you get the blanks?

The blanks are just cheap slugged chips (with the "official" casino weight of 13.5g) from JP Commerce's webstore discountpokerchips.com

I will say though...

Unlike most plastic chips the edgespots are neat and clean. there is no overlapping flash from the mold process like the nexgens or claysmiths. the edges of the chip arent shiny like most china clays. They stack surprisingly well and have a very nice mold design. Overall I'm very impressed.
