Terrible's - What about them appeals to you? (2 Viewers)

What's not to like?? 4/8 orbits of Omaha/Big O with a half kill anyone?

OK, the off white spot on the $25 isn't awesome. I wish it was bright white like the $1 or canary yellow. The inlay doesn't bug me, I think it's amusing. The minty goodness is epic.

Terrible's St Jo primary. 2300 chips, $9500 bank. 2000 x $1 (1700 mint), 300 x $25.

Courage that's an impressive collection of 1's there. If you ever feel like selling 200-300 of them let me know

It was tilting me to have 1800 of them but someday I may sell the whole set lol.

Overall the nicest casino Paulson chips ever.

Glad you like them (and they are indeed nice chips), but I seriously doubt that they would make the Top Ten list of 'nicest casino Paulson chips ever' for most people who lust after and collect nice casino Paulson chips. Certainly not in my Top Ten.

Mint is always nice, but the colors sold me. I'm a secondary fan, but I like to mix Twain and St Jo for the best colors. I just wish the inlay was white. ( and I had more of them)

I love my Terrible's and will never stop trying to build that elusive MT secondary set, but they are not even close to my casino top 10. Now that would be an interesting thread. Dave, Could you give us your top 5 with pics?

omfg... wow. Just wow.

I personally don't see the appeal. Other than MT secondaries they are pretty meh to me. But others love them. And fracs are a double bonus for any casino set.

Even though I have almost 10K Terrible's and I love these chips, the fracs never get play. They look nice and are for show but a 50cent chip has as much use in our games as tits on a mule. Since I have a custom cash set coming with .05,.25 fracs, I won't bother relabeling my Terribles fracs with quarter labels. The question is what will the next big set be after these? I'm hoping another big chiproom sale happens with some great chips. I can't imaging that a few of the sets I have my eye on would ever hit the market. When was the last time a full set of Mapes hit the classifieds?

That would be exactly... never. :p

I've never owned a Terribles chip and never had a particular desire to. I can see how some would think they're great, but most of the color combos don't really agree with me and the theme is too cheesy for me to get on board. I've played with Courage's pile o' $1s before though and it was pretty sweet. :)

Ten nicer casino Paulson chips? What are your ten?

I never cared much for the inlay but it didn't bother me either and they look so much better in the flesh! Once I had a small set of them I had to have more. Besides, I think this was the second set of mint/near mint Paulson's available after I started chipping. They also remind me of the earliest days of PCF when there were so few of us and it was hard to get more than a few responses to any thread, except the threads about Terrible's chips :)

I'd still rather have my GV secondaries back rather than any of the Terrible's though.

i don't own any terrible's and i didn't like them at all when they were first released, but they've definitely grown on me. availability of mint in quantity is huge imo. if i were putting together a set like courage's, these could be my first choice.

it's atypical for me to think so, but the $1s are the real standouts in all iterations of the terrible's. these are two of the best $1s ever in terms of spots and colors imo:

Those Lagrange secondaries are amazing! The three edgespot combo is just off the charts!

Even though the Lagrange primary 1s are the least attractive, I've yet to see any minty MT 1s out there. Wish I could find two racks of them.

I like both of those but if the MT secondary had a white label.....

The tan background to the secondaries really takes away from the design and also prevents OCDs like me from mixing primaries and secondaries. I can't have that on my table. What is cool is that the inlays from STJ and MT are identical except for the small lettering for casino name and city. In that case, the best Terrible's sets of each are:

Primary - .50 (STJ), 1 (STJ), 5 (STJ), 25 (STJ), 100 (MT), 500 (STJ)
Secondary - .50 (STJ), 1 (MT), 5 (toss up), 25 (STJ), 100 (MT), 500 (MT)

Totally agree!
Although the green of the prim 100 (MT) looks very similar to the green of the prim 25 (STJ) so not entirely sure if they arent too close in stacks...
