Not Mine Tangiers Brass Chips (1 Viewer)

IIRC they were around $200-$250 for 500 chips. Looks like 2 x 1000 chip cases there. I don't know about paying $1800 for them. $1000 tops maybe.

They originally sold for $99/500, in a nice, solid black case. The initial design for these brass chips was the "BINYONS [sic] WSOP HORSESHOE 2005 " version, until the Horseshoe's legal people put a stop to that.

I paid around 20c-25c for mine back in the day. But I never saw any WSOP brass chips until after I had purchased the Tangiers. Not saying Larry is wrong, but that's not the sequence I saw them.

All I know for sure is that when I bought the Binyons chips through a 5stardeal-type eBay seller on Long Island, they were the only version of these brass chips available on eBay. Then about a year later, when I wanted to add on, more $1s, the Binyons had been shut down, but I was able to find the Tangiers chips on eBay.

They were my gateway from dice chips to chip hell.

I still have the Binyons (for sentimental value?), but I dumped all the Tangiers when we moved to FL.

I used to have a set of the Tangiers. I think I paid 39c / chip for them. They were actually kind of cool. When I put them in play, alot of people said they were their favorites, although I wouldn't go that far.
I think I got 25c / chip when I sold them.

I never saw the WSOP version but there was another 'Centenniels' chip that was just like them. I think they were around 30c chip at Spinettis.

Are these really 'replicas'? Or just inspired by the fictional casino?
Did chips actually appear in the film?

we used them as giveaways for card protectors - way too heavy (and loud) to actually use, imo. Larry, by 'dumped', you mean you actually threw them away, correct?

Ah. That's too bad. I'm OK with heavy, but if they sound bad... they wont be played.

I'll keep an eye open for a cheap sample set; I like to have samples of "different," and they look like they'd make nice card protectors. And no mistaking them for other chips in play.

Yes -- couldn't give them away to any of my neighbors. It was only 500 or so.

IMO, they do fine as card protectors, but they're very awkward to play with, and don't stack worth beans.
