Question for you tourney experts.

based on the below structure or something very similar I would estimate the tournament length to be between 5-6 hours if my math is correct but please chime in if not ... anyway my question is how does that change per added tables. For instance is that 5-6 hrs for 10 person but what happens at 20,30, 40 ... I'm looking to do a 30-40 man ideally in that 5-6 hr range.

Additional info thus far:
No Rebuys
No Addons
No Antes

thx

from my experiences it really doesnt matter how many people are in the tourney (unless you are talking about big #'s). a rule of thumb is the tourney will be over or close to it when the BB is equal to the starting stack.

but from what i see you can decrease the time (usually) if you have antes. it drives action by making stealing the blinds more prevalent. also if you are not in love with it get rid of the 25/75 level. just not needed.

im no expert just what i think.

bginga is the man to chime in here. he knows structures inside and out.

what happens at 20,30, 40

Your structure (with T10K stacks and 20-minute blind levels) should finish no later than:

L15 (5:20) for 10 players (or 5:43 with 22-minute levels)
L16 (5:45) for 15 players with 20-minute levels
L17 (6:05) for 20 players (or 5:48 with 19-minute levels)
L18 (6:25) for 30 players (or 5:49 with 18-minute levels)
L19 (6:50) for 40 players (or 5:53 with 17-minute levels)

All times shown include your scheduled 5-minute breaks as applicable.

Note that you need to add more levels for running 30- or 40-player events (at least 10000/20000 and 15000/30000 levels, and probably 20k/40k just to be on the safe side in the event of all clueless supernits making the final three in a 40-player tournament).
