The history lies in the Dark Scripts, buried beneath the internet. Only those who possess the Search skill can possibly find it...The thread can't end here, now we're all intrigued!
That website is obsolete. Paul-Son Gaming Supplies no longer exists; they're now part of Gaming Partners International. The old Paulson website probably only is still up because nobody has bothered (or knows how) to shut it down.Slightly confused as to the whole legality dispute - the Paulson website states: "Orders initiated from this site will be permitted only to properly licensed casino customers and to retail customers whose purchases are in full compliance with state and local laws and regulations."
So presumably they will sell to retail/consumers, assuming you're not in a region that explicitly prohibits the purchase?
I believe this has not been true for quite some time.Paul-Son also has retail sales outlets which provide casino quality products for personal use, including poker chips, "Fantasy Casino" chips, dice, playing cards and gift items made with Paul-Son components.
Man put chips up for auction. Mad scramble ensues, establishing baseline prices for future sales. Other man gets seriously pissed off, thinking that first man should have sold them for cost (or some such thing). Blood feud begins...Nothing exciting here. Man wanted custom Paulson chips. Man got custom Paulson chips. The end.

I suppose you'd need an aggrieved party though, for there to be a legality issue, right?I am a lawyer, and based on what I’ve been told, I wouldn’t characterize the process as “legal.” YMMV.
Just because you don’t get sued or prosecuted doesn’t make your actions legal. I agree with you that being left out of the buy doesn’t give anyone legal standing to complain about it.I suppose you'd need an aggrieved party though, for there to be a legality issue, right?
Maybe GPI is pissed that they were "tricked," or maybe they don't care, I dunno.
Possibly, another casino customer who feels their chips are less secure, maybe?
But I'm pretty sure those of us who got pissy because we weren't in on the secret, and didn't have a chance to buy chips at cost, don't really affect the legality.
Wait...we don't have a LEGAL standing to complain?Just because you don’t get sued or prosecuted doesn’t make your actions legal. I agree with you that being left out of the buy doesn’t give anyone legal standing to complain about it.
This is blatantly contradicted by the well-established Bart Doctrine.Just because you don’t get sued or prosecuted doesn’t make your actions legal.
I'm not really arguing with you, mostly just thinking out loud. But I really don't care. It's just weird with these chips - sometimes there are simple answers, sometimes there aren't.Just because you don’t get sued or prosecuted doesn’t make your actions legal. I agree with you that being left out of the buy doesn’t give anyone legal standing to complain about it.
I'm just glad my chips didn't suddenly stop working 20 years ago.Edit: to say nothing of this: http://www.paulsongaming.com/y2k.asp
