SunFly Grooved/Matte Rolling Edge (1 Viewer)

Just making this post since I got a message back from SunFly about some PolyClay customs I've been thinking about, but still really looking forward to getting a cards mold GB set.
I always hear people saying that they don't like their rolling edge because it's glossy when people prefer matte.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge and I just hadn't come across it but two of their molds offer a grooved or matte finish.
You can see in the small stack on the left that they have some ridges on the side. Not sure how I feel about that but it's certainly different than the glossy edge on the ones I've seen.

The lucky dragon and pattern mold offer both of these options (either grooved or matte) but I've never seen anyone choose the grooved.
Has anyone handled their grooved or matte finish rolling edge and do you like it?
It only appears on these two molds on the PolyClay Chips unfortunately, but I do kind of like the pattern mold.

Is that a textured finish, or did they print that effect?

The injection mark on the second from the bottom is making me curious about that.

Yeah kinda looks to be printing that mimics a grooved edge…which would make more sense:

Wow yeah it does look flat on the chip tipped upward in dkellerd's photo. I'll have to ask for more information. Thats a strange way of doing it if so if it isn't actually a textured chip.

Are the grooved edges printed to appear grooved or they actually grooved edges on the sides of the chips?

Hi, the edge finish of the 'clay version lucky dragon' mold is matte, code# CB003, and the grooves are molded patterns.

The edge of 'cards' mold is glossy, code# CB001. Please see below pics for your reference.

its just available on the polyclay version of lucky dragon mold

I really like the look of the Matt edge, it look much nicer than the regular glossy edge

I've a pattern mold sample (from @Odranoel77 's cash set).
When ordering, we did not ask anything - thinking that only glossy was available as any other PolyChrom.

Here're some compaison pics with a sample of PolyChrom Diamonds and PolyChrom Pattern. The pattern has matte edges.

Matte finish is so much nicer. Im going to try and get my hands on some samples and compare the difference between them all.

Ah okay. I misinterpreted the email then. So the dragon mold comes in grooved and the pattern mold comes in matte.
Regardless I really do love the matte look a lot more than the glossy. It looks great.

Some chip hobbyists would prefer matte edges so that they can better replicate a purely clay chip. Casinos don't care what material the chips are made from, and they most certainly are not worried with trying to get a ceramic chip to emulate clay chips as closely as possible.

By any chance do the glossy edges lead to a longer lifespan of the chip and possibly higher visibility from afar (i.e. security cameras)? These would be possible reasons the casinos prefer glossy edges. They also might feel that it's less likely someone can try to defraud them with counterfeit chips with that type of edge.

PolyInno only have glossy edges afaik.
