Just got an email from Sunfly saying they will be releasing “casino quality” playing cards in 2020.

I asked for the pertinent details:
- paper / plastic
- poker / bridge
- regular / jumbo
- color options for backs
- designs for back (standard/semi-custom/full custom)
- sample deck possibility

They confirmed that there will be both paper and 100% plastic options and that the minimum order quantity is 5,000 decks for standard design and further discussion can be had for custom designs. They didn’t respond to the other questions re card type.

I didn’t go further because there’s no way I’d even come close to those numbers even with a group buy.

Potentially. The minimum quantity to do a custom run would be between 1000 and 1500 sets. Customizing the boxes is also feasible.

This is certainly a better option than buying from an unproven source (not that I really have any doubt that’s Sunfly will produce a quality product), especially considering the difference in minimum quantities.

They’ve responded that they might consider lower order quantities (~200 decks). A significant change from their initial response.

Seems like they are still figuring out their quantities and pricing...they asked what my price point is for cards.

I’m going to try to get a set-up to test out. I’ll report back if it’s any good. I’m going for 100% plastic, poker, jumbo.

Definitely need to see quality of the cards before anything else.

If it is good, then I’ll see how hard I can push for the lowest order quantity for their standard design backs.

I’ll also inquire about semi-custom / full-custom backs.

Maybe we could even go full custom with pips and courts included.

I think the suits are too busy for my liking. I might still be interested as I love their chips. If international would be alright that is? But it would also depend on design and price in the end.

Like almost everything about them, especially the back design, but I fear that when looked at from a distance, the suits will appear faded/washed out, rather than intricately designed.

Would still probably buy a setup if these ever became available.
