So i'm 99% sure I will get myself a tournament set of 43mm sun-fly. Basicly i need a bigger set. I have made a cash set already and I just love the chips. They stack great, feel great, and I get to make them look like I want them too. Plus i can actually get more of them very easily. Also... I really like plaques, so will be geting a bunch of them to go with the chips. Why i'm only 99% sure is because i need to sell my cdi to fund these...:nailbite:

I have begun mocking up some ideas i will have @timinater help me out with like the last set. One idea i have is using the matsui pattern. They have a chip designer on their website and these are all the inner ring mold, but with the twist that i have colored the ring in a diffrent color. I left these clean without denoms and such on the chip, only the label.

Second option is to go with a bud Jones style like the old school/ union station. These mock ups look a bit more crappy since i just used the paintbucket on the mock ups for those chips, but you get the idea. I really like how those chips look, so i find myself in a tough spot deciding between them. For both version anyway it's the 1000 denom i find myself having trouble with... So any ideas and suggestions on those are welcome.

I'm seriously not a fan of the fake bud jones style on ceramics. Also, since you're not limited by colours, or edge spot cost, I would suggest using the same three colour design for all chips, say using the 4 edge spot mold. And put maybe your crowns in there!

While i really liked how the crowns on the chips turned out, i think i want to leave them off to further separate the tournament chips from the cash chips. Thanks for the input mate.

One big advantage of printed ceramics (or hybrids) is that you aren't limited to just the standard patterns offered by the high-end plastic chip manufacturers. You can easily do a Matsui-style six chip set with progressive three-spot, four-spot, five-spot, six-spot, seven-spot, and eight-spot designs (several of which don't exist in plastic). Same for BJ-style chips, although it's a little harder with all of the extraneous design elements involved.

Played around some more. I really like the Mountain top chips. The sample i had borrowed before i ordered my own sun-fly were Mountain tops, and to some degree my label is inspired by those chips too. So here is a "clay" version as well. They are probobly my front runner at this point.

HMK, did you have any issues with the shipping from Sun-Fly? I contacted them recently about getting some samples and even shipping from Shenzhen/Guangzho across the border to me in HK (at it's furthest would be 80miles) they still quoted me the full $50-$60 shipping fee!

Shipping was expensive. They seem to use an express service tho.

Just thought i would share the final mock ups, made pretty by @timinater. He has helped me on 2 projects now, and I must say he is easy and great to work with and i'm super pleased with the results. These are final, i have the AIs already, but if you spot anything you think is worth having a second look at let me know, as i guess it's way better now than when the chips are made... ;) I know some will object to the progression of the 500 spot, but i tried swapping spots with the 100 and just didn't like it. Also the Mountain top casino that the chips draw inspiration from have the 500 spot as their 5k, so i don't think it is too out of place.

I will hopefully have most of this made pretty soon. Don't know how much the chinese new year will delay this however.

Chips will be 43mm/25mm label by sun-fly, db 60mm sun-fly polychrome.

Plaques 94mm and 107mm and 43mm jeton all by msk. I will most likely have the honeycombs printed with metallic foil. Show 'em primarly for my cash set (does anybody have them for tournaments?)

Thanks, sorry but there won't be any extra available. Already pushing my budget over the limit for this set. :nailbite:

Very very nice mock ups.

I'll be interested in seeing the prototype Sunfly chips once they get done.

I'm currently mocking up my planned custom set with the same Sunfly 43mm chip and have not decided on traditional 'clay edgespots' or go for the bud jones/matsui plastic theme.

Sun-flys will be back from cny on monday as far as i know. Will post pictures when i get sample pictures from them.

Skip the T25 and do a T100 based set if you want to really use 25,000 plaques. ;-)

I'm sure people would prepay for samples. So it shouldn't effect money out of your pocket ordering more. I know I would.

Hey guys, i'm very flattered some of you want samples. Thank you. I didn't think there would be interest really as a full sample isn't inexpensive. Here are the numbers, before shipping etc. I paid 0.6 $ each per chip. A dealerbutton was 2.80$. 5k plaques 7.30$ (for 32 pcs) 25k is 12.81 (7pcs) jeton 5.5$ (23 pcs). Most likely there will be some sort of import tax based on total value for me as well and I don't know if my shipping cost will increase either. So in short, a full sample at cost is probobly somewhere between 40-50$ shipped.

That said, i did order a few extra chips from sun-fly for gifts/spares. Enough for 5 samples out of which 3 are spoken for that i'm giving away. But i could probobly still add plaques and jetons from MSK if somebody is still interested, but for sun-fly it's another 100 chips i would need to order... and 1 kg extra in shipping is probobly going to be expensive too.

So if somebody is still interested, provided it's possible from MSK, i can make up to 2 samples with everything (except maybe dealer buttons as I would have to check how much extra that would be from sun-fly). The plaques etc would have to be paid in advance and shipping when i know the weight of everything. Dibs would go to @grantc54 and @arch3r who shoved interest here in this thread.

Oh, no problem for me. I'm just flattered. :) Shoot me a pm and we can discuss it further.

Just got an e-mail from sun-fly that because of the corona virus their factory is closed another week, untill february 17th. For now atleast, i guess it can be further delays...

I was also waiting for their reply. I was suspecting it was due to Corona virus...

It's not looking great for them. News outlets yesterday are reporting a jump in infection rates on coastal Chinese cities far from the outbreak epicenter. Guangzhou was mentioned. Sunfly is loacted in Guangzhou.

I thought that SunFly was located in Hong-Kong.

I verified and also got an e-mail saying that the factory will open at best on 17th Feb due to the "Wuhan Virus".

No doubt then. :)

I thought it was Hong Kong because with my previous order I could see in the mail tracking that chips were coming from Hong Kong.

Anyway, it's very terrifying what happens over there...
I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through.

I actually dodged a bullet because my wife and myself almost booked ourselves for a holiday tour to Hubei Province (where Wuhan is the capital and which is now under complete lockdown). At that time, there were only 60+ reported cases of localized infection and even WHO was saying it was nothing to worry about.

Given China's precedent for not talking straight (SARS in 2003), I felt uneasy and did not believe that the Chinese authorities are being forthright about the situation on the ground at Wuhan. We cancelled the trip. One week, later the shit really hit the fan at Wuhan and Hubei.

I hope they get things sorted. China is so intertwined to the World economy, it's bad everyone if they get into trouble.

Got the prototypes for approval. I'm a bit uncertain if i think the dark yellow spot on the 1k chip maybe got to be a bit too subtle. Then again i know the colors will look slightly diffrent, a little less saturated, in hand compared to these pictures. I'm leaning towards no changes.
