Hey all,

My wife and I are going to Vegas for 4 nights next week, staying at the Sahara. We've been there twice before (LV, not Sahara), and have seen a few shows (mostly Cirque de Soleil), and have wandered through almost all of the casinos and hotels up and down the strip (or at least the ones that were there 10 or 12 years ago).

This time I'll be spending a few hours in various poker rooms for the first time (didn't gamble at all on the previous trips), but I also want to find a few things to see and do with my wife that won't cost an arm and two legs. I'm also hoping to find a few places to eat that are nice, but aren't too pricey. We plan to use the monorail and taxis to get from the Sahara to other places on the strip or other parts of LV, so we aren't limited to things right around the Sahara, but we also aren't set up for attractions that require a long drive.

My wife has some mobility issues (can walk short-medium distances, needs a wheelchair for longer treks), and neither of us are looking for adrenaline rushes, so suggestions of bungee jumping and renting an Uzi or AK47 would be a little out of our lane, but please feel free to chime in with any other suggestions.

Cheers!

Just finished reading the 2017 and 2016 reports (2015 link seems to be dead). Highly entertaining, but not really focused on cheap eats and attractions. TripAdvisor and Google have a few suggestions, but I'm hoping a few of the PCF members can provide first hand suggestions as well.

Or I'll just have to run really lucky at the $1/$2 table, hope that the cashier doesn't realize that I'm a Non-Resident Alien (love that term, makes me feel so special) and take 30% off the top, and then head to the Bellagio for a $400 lunch!

A bit late now since you're going next week, but the Facebook MyVegas games can get you some freebees from playing free slots. If you're ambitious, you might be able to rack up enough points for a free buffet. There are some quick ways to get lots of chips right away to get a head start.

My wife and I liked the Carnegie Deli at the Mirage just before watching Shin Lim's magic show (which is really great, by the way). I think one regular sandwich there can feed at least three people.

Because you are at the Sahara, and your wife doesn't like long walks, you may want to consider the Las Vegas Monorail to get to the strip. If you know how many trips to and from the strip you will be taking, multi-day passes are far more economical. If you play poker longer tournaments, this is even better because if your wife gets bored railing you, she can go back to the Sahara, and then return when you are done, and there is no extra charge. The monorail also puts you close to a couple of great restaurants that are very high on my list and I will be hitting again this year (July).
  • Battista's Hole in the Wall - Free wine with dinner, and it's not terrible wine.
  • Ellis Island - get a club card and the steak dinner is just $9.99. If you play $5 on a slot machine with your card inserted, you can get a coupon that knocks the price down to $7.99. Even with the expected loss rate on a slot machine that is still only a little over $8

What is your budget for dinners and shows?
We'll probably see "O" again, which is around $100-$150 each, depending on seat availability. Otherwise we'll probably see a few comedy acts or singers, hopefully <$100 for the singers. I'm looking for some cheap/free things to do to fill in the blanks.

As far as meals, I know that some places are tough to get out of for <$20/head for breakfast and <$50/head for dinner (not including drinks), and I don't mind doing that once or twice, but I'd like to balance that with a few <$10/head breakfasts and <$25/head dinners.

big fan of “raiding the rock vault” at hard rock. Eat at pink taco before or after
Pretty cheap tickets and I don’t remember stairs

You could check out the Mandalay Bay shark aquarium if you think you would enjoy that. Not too expensive. For good cheap food, I always recommend Earl of Sandwich by Planet Hollywood & the miracle mile shops. For nicer meals that are reasonable priced, I recommend Lotus of Siam Thai restaurant (often ranked as the best Thai food you'll ever find outside of Thailand - waits can be long, call ahead), and Battistas Hole in the Wall Italian (great family run restaurant that's been there forever. They're only open for dinner though. 4:30 pm).

If you dont like pushing the chair, there are many scooter rental companies that deliver to your bell desk and pick up there too. They are less expensive than the property's chairs and help in those long walk areas like Caesars, wynn encore or palazzo Venetian. Elevators are 80% sometimes you have to travel to find one. Strat had some decent cafe I ate at last Oct. that was reasonable. Their poker room is empty or one table at best. Food court in Caesars and Ballys or the bazaar have some lower eats. PH shops too. Cosmo also reasonable priced eats. Comp Drinks are harder to come by, tip well.first one and they are more frequent. Paying for them is stupid expensive these days. Near the Ballys mono is Ellis Island, get thier steak dinner special.
Absenthe was decent show, sometimes felt like cursing every f-ing word was a requirement, but the acts were impressive and close. Also enjoyed Penn & teller if you can get to rio.
Watch the free mirage volcano and the Bellagio fountains worth the price+.
Check out Anthony Curtis' site for more tips and deals. Also vegasmessageboard.com for other tips.
Have fun,
T

If you have a vehicle, the best eats aren’t on the strip.
Taco Y Taco - Henderson
The Magic Noodle - Summerlin
Pizza Rock - Fremont
