Strange “checking” on older Kems (1 Viewer)

I’ve had these for about 8 years. I used the blue at first, and the reds stayed in the original wrapping. The blues developed a strange checking in the finish, sort of like checked lacquer on old wood. Guessing they reacted to humidity.

You can’t really feel the cracks, but they do feel a bit different than the reds—a little less slick. They’re not bad, so I’m still using them. Just curious if anyone else has seen this.

Capillary action from water damage or high humidity getting under the finishing layer? Technically shouldn't do this. Maybe a poor seal.

Yeah, you wouldn’t think so. It’s pretty much uniform across the entire deck, except for the one joker I still have, that still looks like new.

Just saw this thread, I have a set that the same thing happened to. Had some flooding in our basement this year, and though they were not in direct contact with water it was extremely humid, so I’m pretty sure that was the cause in my case
