For anyone out there still cleaning your chips the old-fashioned way, I've found an online retailer (Pool Parts Unlimited) selling Sterling's Magic cleaner for roughly $30 bucks. This stuff is excellent at safely & effectively cleaning your chips. Shipping is a bit steep at $12, but I got my order in less than 48hrs. Came 1 day priority shipping (i chose the cheapest shipping option). The company was very responsive to emails and they shipped it out the next day. This is the cheapest price I've found for a 4lb tub. In the past I've bought the smaller 1lb (16oz) containers. This is the first time I bought the larger size.

1lb vs 4lb for comparison

That little tub's graphics would make a good chip label graphic.

"Sterlings Magic" with the genie and the lamp, just add denominations. Keep the fonts the way they are.

You're sooo right!

Goddammit...I don't need to be spending more money I don't have on customs, but these need to be made. Probably on the MD-50, because classic, although E&C could be a candidate.

And now starts the research project...

(I temporarily hate you, @ekricket...)

LOL, HHR mold would look pretty swell as well.

Send us some mockups

Just a quick mock after a brief study.

Frac through $100. E&C for the win. Sands & Sahara both used H-molds for a time in the late 50's and early 60's, but all adopted a stylized house mold eventually, and the E&C really brings that feel to the forefront. Spots were pretty simple back then. Spot color and selection have been pretty heavily influenced by the Sands, Sahara, and Aladdin sets of the old.

In other news, it's possible that nobody was more confused as to what color a $5 chip should be in the 50's and 60's than the Sands. They utilized yellow, blue, red, and orange as base colors. Could easily swap the yellow fiver for a blue base, and switch the $25 to a yellow $20 instead. That denom, apparently is the one thing the Sands was drawing a line in the proverbial sand over - a $20 chip is yellow.

GROUP BUY!!

I know another fellow in the CCA that uses this stuff to great effect.

Been using it on all my nasty chips for about a year now. Seems to just melt the gunk off with no ill effect to the chip. Read the article below and decided to give a try.

Just now found this stuff on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Quick-Brite-...12704489&sr=1-4&keywords=quick+and+brite&th=1

Seems like the ccgtcc article mentions this one too. About $10 cheaper (shipped) if you're a prime member. Appears to be the same type of stuff.

Bah, no chip designs with this one.

Ok, I'm going to ask......what is it then.....???

Besides "Magic" :cautious:

Thanks @duffman .

I've always wanted to try this stuff & based on looking at your restoration results (fantastic) I've ordered some to try out. The price was miles better than any other place I saw.

Based on the container, I assume it’s some kind of cream. Which would make it pretty inconvenient. I wash my chips by hand, but they all soak together, so that’s a little more convenient than creaming up each chip individually. But if I found out this stuff works really well AND doesn’t damage hot stamps, I might be interested.

It’s relatively safe on hot stamps as long as you don’t do heavy scrubbing, but if you leave the cream set on it for a bit then it will eat away the stamp.

The stuff works pretty well, but is really best used for singles rather than sets.

Considering buying Sterling’s magic to clean some casino used ASM HHR chips. They are filthy and I have been using magic eraser to some degree of success. Curious as to how people like this product.

Wow. missed this old thread. I use Sterling Magic to clean chips in my singles collection, too. I agree with Psypher above, use on singles. I have the smaller tub and it lasts for awhile.
