Hi all, new here. I just got back from a trip to Vegas and played some 2-4 limit holdem at the Flamingo and the South Point. I live on the East coast and I'm about 3.5 hours from the closest casino poker, so when I do go play it's just for fun and I try to take it all in. I've played in Tunica, MS and Columbus, OH in addition to Vegas.

I'm trying to put together a regular home game and am puttering around looking at various sets, table toppers, etc. I'm sure I'll have questions as I try to sort it out.

In the meantime, here's a question for discussion: do you find the South Point $1 chips as ugly and boring as I do? I've played there before and remembered them being blah, but brown, no edge spots? This is a locals casino, I know, and in talking with some dealers it's like 3 locals for every visitor like me. So I thought, maybe people don't really care all that much. But then, maybe they do. Would you rather play with, dare I say it, turd brown chips or something a bit more exciting? I would think that if I was playing 20+ hours a week I'd want something a bit more upscale or at least average. So why would they chose that?

Cheaper? Can't be that much cheaper and a yellow edge spot at least would give them some character.
Hide dirt? Maybe they just play with them until they disintegrate and don't want all the grime to show up.

What do you guys think? I didn't take a picture or a chip with me, and the only picture I see online is to chips for sale (don't want to violate any terms by linking to it), but search "south point brown poker chip" and you'll find it pretty easily.
