These are the old chips:

But if you go to their website, these chips are not in any of their photos. Looks like they have new RHC Paulsons, even though chipguide does not indicate it.

So somebody get on that!

Casinos rarely use live chips in their promo ads. The chips in the promo photo appear to be non-denoms as well.

Now I could be wrong. I haven't been there, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I used to have a set (which I foolishly sold) that was perfect for our small cash games at the time. They got a lot of play for a while, and then when my game died out they hit the market and were scattered to the wind:(

I would love to re-build that set, with another rack of $5's. Add a barrel or so of $25's and it would be a great micro set. It would be next to impossible probably to re-build though.

Love my Ameristar quarters, looks like I have 145 of them!

There weren’t that many out there when I started building my set, so there’s a good chance yours were mine at some point.

I had a local hookup for the Ameristar chips, and the guy made multiple trips to the casino to harvest chips for me. I had 50 or so of the snappers as well, which I believe I sent back and exchanged for $5’s.

I'd bet they often use stock photography in many cases, rather than custom photo shoots.

Back when I did marketing for a casino we made a point of using the live chips. A bit of extra work and cost keeping security on staff for the shoots, but those details make a difference in the shots.

Our bank was surprisingly lax about us signing out cash and chips for promotions too. Couple signatures, budget codes and away you go!

Feel free to decline to answer (in America we call it pleading the fifth) but what casino did you work for that used live chips in promos? I don't doubt you (I did say "rarely" not "never"), but to use lve chips in advertising seems to indicate a higher level of classiness.

California Grand Casino in Pacheco, CA uses live chips in their TV ads here in the Bay Area.

Fun fact - according to CardPlayer magazine it is the oldest continuously operating poker room in the world - 1854.

The header at the top is one example of a shot with live chips. The casino has rich history, built in a former train station and certainly is on the nicer end of the spectrum. One really nice touch is the stained glass in the poker room.

The glass was a gift from Holland Casino in Amsterdam who consulted with the Saskatchewan government on opening/operating the casino. The glass tells a story using the face cards etc. The exact plot I don't recall but I believe it's related to the jack stealing the queen from the king.

Can't say classy or not, but they did have good help with their advertising. :)

Sorry to jack the thread, haha!

The Ocean Casino in Atlantic City only uses the finest examples of casino chips on their website. It's a pretty decent sized Casino. Never have been there though. The owner just died yesterday in Colorado in a car accident.

Lago uses theirs on the website. Also looks to be their cloth too. Not sure if they just did photo shoot before they opened because the chips are not currently in this condition.

Any word on what happened to these chips? I didn't see any new chips listed on chip guide.

I found this thread doing a Google image search. I have 400 I bought some years ago to redeem for someone here that was moving away from the Chicagoland area. They were part of a larger set they had harvested and I never got around to the Ameristar to take them in, and I've since moved away from Chicago,,, out of sight out of mind. 340 @ $1, 60 @ $5.
I've just emailed Ameristar to see if they are still valid, I'll let you know how they reply.
