I designed this set what seems like a million years ago (January, 2007), and it was originally for a competition, which I didn't end up winning.

The design was tweaked a number of times before being offered by Jim Blanchard at ASM briefly as a custom option on the FDL mold.

Then, as a Paulson Home Chip from Apache. It's no longer available from what I can tell.

Some dealer buttons I designed.

I currently own one of the first sets offered by Apache, and a full tournament set from ASM in a custom wood case. I ended up re-designing the 500's and 1000's and added on to my set.

If anybody has questions, or wants to know more, I'll be sure to actively check this thread!

No way! I have an 1,100 piece mixed PCR/Avalon cash set, mainly v2 colors. Gorgeous chips, a favorite with my regs.

(I’m currently on a desperate search for more of the lighter green v2s, either Avalon or PCR. I foolishly traded some away a couple years ago.)

Wow, well that first design was definitely used somewhere else (not my photo)

Screen name checks out…You are THAT guy

Awsome stuff, Avalons are the best of the suits mold chips

When I got into poker and then into chips these were the ones that I always wanted, sadly back then I could not afford them.
Great design!

Amazing. Love these. Great stuff.

Dude I remember you from back in the day. Somewhere I have one of those FDL chips. I was going to go to bed now I’ve got to go tear assing around the house trying to find it

Can someone give me the short version of why Paulson isn't doing home game chips any more? And, have they gone up in considerable value, or am I crazy?

It was a business decision by GPI. Home market was peanuts in comparison to the volume of its casino business.

Prices have skyrocketed in recent years. Even the 'Paulson Chips' mold lines are expensive these days.

I miss the CT days when group buys were ubiquitous, several retailers had their own retail designs, and multiple manufacturers were available for custom sets. So many options available for a buck a piece or less.

The colors and edgespots were part of the contest. It was voted on by the CT community one by one. The proteges became what was the final winning configuration. I think voting on the inlay design was the final step.

I think alot of folks at the time weren't that enthusiastic about the overall end result. As voting on each chip individually resulted in a bit of a disjointed design in terms of so called edgespot progression.

I can't recall exact price but I think Sidepot offered these at presale prices below $1.

This is all correct! It was a weird way to do it, and the set lost a lot of cohesion as a result.

I wonder if there would be any interest in reviving the artwork for group buy? I haven't done much research on the logistics, but I'd be willing to do some legwork.
what artwork?

I guess you mean CPC group buy?
Although, quantity doesn't bring the price down by CPC.
Paulson will make chips only if fooled they are destined for a casino.

These chips, whatever their version, are among those I have always dreamed of acquiring. Thank you @imthatguy for drawing them and thank you for telling us the story that is behind them. It allowed me to go back a long way in my memory and experience a happy nostalgia. I will follow with interest this thread and any future GB project.

Will be following as well, I'd probably be interested in a cash set & maybe an add-on for a STT set.

FDL, MD50 or Jockey mold (Jockey would be a good fit for the Pegasus design) would be great. And I'd love if it were some thing close to the orig C&S colors/spots, really liked those.

too bad the roman mold is gone
i would like do do an add on
