Hey all...Going to Tahoe here in about a month for my birthday getaway. My wife and I used to go on a ski trip every other year and have been to some incredible places but kids came into the picture so we have taken some time off since the last. Really excited for this. It will be a quick weekend binger with a 2 night stay and 2 days on the slopes then back home. We are flying into Reno so would have to rent a car or take a shuttle and haven't figured out exactly where we are staying yet. The two options would be....

1. Stay on the north side of the lake and look at going to Northstar and Squaw Valley. Looks like the north side is quite a bit more expensive but has options to get there from Reno as well.

2. Stay on the south side and go to Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Heavenly seems like a great resort but travel time is quite a bit more to get there from the airport.

Looking forward to hear what you guys have experienced.

Don’t know much about Tahoe but hope to get there one day.
The Tahoe Biltmore at Crystal Bay used to be the famous Nevada Lodge Hotel and casino.
Nevada Lodge had some of the most epic chips ever made IMO.
May be worth stopping in just for the history factor.
Enjoy your trip.

I’ve never cared for South Lake. Too many people, definitely more touristy. We’ve always stayed in Homewood/North Shore area.

Not much of a snowboarder so I cant help there.

May just do that if we are staying on that side of the lake.

We stayed at the Marriott timber lodge and it was a pretty nice hotel with some shops in the area. We were only there for 1 night and neither of us are into snowboardering/skiing. There's a couple casinos within walking distance.
