Sitting at a poker table with cup holders in the rail (1 Viewer)

If the cup holder is built into the rail, at a home game, would you rather...

  • Sit in FRONT of the cup holder

  • Sit BETWEEN the cup holders

I'm curious, what do players prefer...
For a HOME GAME, NOT a casino. If the cup holders are already built into the rail, on a large 10 player table.
Are you more comfortable sitting between the cup holders or in front of it.

Vote, up on top of this post.

If we have a full table, always in front of the cup holder. If we are way shorthanded, spread out however.

I NEVER want a bottle -- or anything else, other than chips -- directly in front of me (and continuously in my way) while playing poker, or while doing any other activity, either. It may be the most stupid poker-related invention ever.

As a lefty, I would tend to say cup holder in the middle, rather than to my right.

If it’s a short-handed table and there’s extra available holders, then preferably to my (left) side.

I like to keep my drink right in front of me. If the cupholders are deep enough, even a beer bottle sits low enough to not be intrusive. When the cupholders are to either side, they occupy space where my arms typically rest and impede my natural movement when pitching cards.

Anything ?? such as a chip stack

I think the cup holders work best filled up with cement. Then, I don't care where they are.

This is why I prefer slide-unders.

Left or right handed, no problem.

Like it centered? No problem.

Have a glass of whiskey, but also want a bottle of water? No problem.

Building a raised rail... now you have a problem...

In front me, I'm left handed as well and it doesn't affect play

Always on the side table behind me to the right or left. Bottles should never be on the table or in the rail, just asking for spills. :sneaky:

But if they are there, in the middle is less likely to be in the way. On the left or right is right in the way of reaching for chips, cards, etc...

I'm not a fan cup holders in the rail, but if I must, then in front. Drink carts are the way to go IMHO.

Depending on the type of construction, a simple raised rail should present no significant slide-under issues.

I have no doubt that if I were to build a raised rail table, I would devise a way to insert movable cupholders. It is not inconceivable.

Another reason for slide-unders... when a table is short-handed, you can get more elbow room and just adjust the cupholder as you wish.

In our monthly game we have the metal slide in cup holders, we need them, but I would rather do the side table's for drinks and snacks.

Side tables are nice if you have the room and don't have a bad back. When those apply, I'd rather not drink if side tables are the only option.
